Clutch / Gearbox problems

Driving home the other day I lost all gears, now the car is with CN’s having it looked at (thanks for being so fast guys!) I don’t know yet whether it’s a gearbox problem or a clutch problem, question is, with less than 20K miles on the clock and only one trackday (well a morning’s drifting at Oulton to be precise), whatever the problem is should this be a warranty issue?

I will pay whatever the cost is so I can get to Le Mans OK, but should I chase this up with Lotus afterwards to get a refund?

The warranty is 2 years. I’m not sure what the mileage restriction is though (if any). How old is the car?

If you have previously reported symptoms of this fault within the warranty period you should be ok (especially if it’s been investigated before now).

two years 20K miles, which ever is first

It’s under 2 years and under 20K miles… But what if the dealer can’t spot any specific failure, and just puts it down to wear and tear? I still think it should last longer…

Your within the warranty & that’ll cover a gearbox failure, unless say it can be demonstrated you have been changing gear without the clutch Dont worry. Doesn’t sound like a quick fix though (more like a rebuild rather than a replacement push for the former & tell 'em your booked with the car for Le Mans).

Chris Neil’s have fixed it under warranty, and more importantly, on time for Le Mans!!

Top Guys!!

If mt recollection is correct, lotus get the toyota engine and gearbox somewhat cheaper than the VHPD + gearbox used to cost.

Oh for a tough, affordable 6 speed box for the k series.

Hhmmmmm…

Found out that as from aug o4 its 2years unlimited mileage, thankgod mines sept o4.
