Cleaning the witches hat air filters.

Morning Exiges.com, any recommendations on the best way to do this and prep for reinstall.

Also anyone binned off there resonator valve and feel like donating it to me. I’ve bloody lost mine

Vacuum cleaner, mine are more dusty than greasy.

I think the Lotus dealers binned the resonators whenever the 190 upgrade was done. They are not fitted on my car.

Wash with dilute detergent solution, rinse thoroughly (I use the shower, set to cold), carefully shake off the excess water and leave to air dry. Finally spray lightly with Pipercross dust retention oil and refit.

Cheers fells’s I’ll vac it, wash it then spray it

I bought Ramair filters, come as pairs so need two over the trumpets.

I have a witches hat type but, due to the age, worried the engine will pull parts out, positive the filter will disintegrate.

Good advice. Thanks

Both my old ones have disintegrated, both were in dry storage. I’ve had a disappointing challenge trying to fit Hangar 111 cone filter to the end of the inlet duct. I’ve used duct tape, silicone and cable ties, not really a satisfactory solution, but it’s effective. The H111 filter weighs as much as a Jenvey throttle body, it’s not really a suitable alternative to a witches tit.

I cleaned mine once but was worried about the age of it and replaced it. Pretty sure I got one from Hangar111. Disturbingly expensive for a service item.
