Classic Le Mans

Must do the whole Le Mans thing one year, never got round to doing it yet! I really regret not being able to go with Pesky and Russ a few years ago when they invited me. Doh!!

One of my work mates was there racing a Lagonda. Came 3rd in race 1, fuel starvation in race 2, and threw a rod in race 3 :frowning:

Still had a brill weekend however!

I will put up with the idiots and expense just to be able to do the full circuit.

I could not get over the amount of people and how easy it was to walk about, Friday night practice we were walking back to the pits about 12:30 and saw two people from Terte Rouge to the back of the village. Even driving to Arnage early Sunday moring there were no traffic jams and a total of 5 people on the banking.

The worse thing was the heat I could not find any way to keep the beer cold.

Hi Paul,

Yes it was great to chat to you. So glad you’re ‘bolted’ in, and very envious that you are skilled enough to do all your Exige work yourself.

Your are right, the heat was a killer - even if you don’t drink beer :astonished: Even so, it was great to drive around to the different viewing points without much trouble.

Re the lap thing, Pesky - see excatly where you are coming from, and I do intend to do the Bugatti circuit next year. However, there were some ‘clubs’, Porsche especially, that went out at full chat between some of the rounds (I don’t include the BMWs as these were manufacturer backed). However, I am sure that you would need to sleep with a lot of the ‘right people’ and give them lots of dosh to do this. S1’s have got retro styling, some of it modelled on the 22 and Europa that are in period haven’t they? Couldn’t we get a race organised for the 25th hour?

Cheers,

Clive.
