Clapping Brake Pads

Hi all,

the front brake pads (pagids) on my '04 Exige make a rattling sound, as if they are clapping the disks. This stops when I press the brakes and re appears a short while later. I was told that the discs are � way through their wear, but have not verified this myself, what is the wear limit on them? Could it be a case of lost retaining springs? I�ve just gotten the car so I haven�t got a clue as to what the caliper set up is like.

Sounds to me like the little rubber buffer pads have worn away. These stick on the bottom inside ledge of the caliper where the metal pad exterior sits.

Mine burn up after a few track days which causes the pads to rattle. The stuff is made by 3M and you can get it through eliseparts etc. All you have to do is whip the pads out. Very easy to replace.
