Chargecooler?

Hi guys and girls,

I am new here, and new to Lotus.

Got a 2010 Cup260 (see below link)

http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.130800650348835.25899.100002567038129&type=1

In addition to the looks, I am also doing a power upgrade.

Parts ordered, yet to be installed, all from Hanger111 are:

  • Signature Sport Exhaust
  • Signature Sport Catalyst
  • Signature Sport Manifold (I believe I am the first lucky owner of this newly product added to Hanger111 product line).
  • Reverie Carbon Air-Intake
  • Front Canards

I am writing from Duabi/UAE, where the temperature outside yesterday afternoon reached 46C in the shade, so cooling is a must.

Items I (intend) to add are cooling stuff. I have already purchased a SnowPerformance Stage3 package:

http://www.snowperformance.net/product.php?pk=75

In addition to this, I also intend to add a chargecooler.

I know from reading your more than just valuable debate that the kit Hanger111 uses is the KomoTech based pack, but the one Hanger111 offers is specifically built for Hanger111.

Another option would be to go for is the ProAlloy pack:

http://www.proalloy.co.uk/cgi-bin/sitewise.pl?act=det&pt=52_921_62_178&p=788&id=proalloy

I know that both products are good, with minor pros/cons both sides, so one can’t go wrong.

But if you were to pick one, which would it be, and in a few words, why?

I also notice, from the images posted only, that both packs lack the use of a heat-shield. Am I right with this assumption?

Looking forwards to hear from you guys.

Mr. Happy from Dubai.

Hello Mr Happy! Great name…

just to be open I have a proalloy chargecooler, but the issue I have with the komotec system is the position and size of the front mounted heat exchanger, firstly it is not very big and secondly it sits between directly in front of the air vents into the car, thus heating the air before it enters the cabin.
Also though I suppose this is just me, but the main charge cooler that sits on the engine still looks like a standard cooler with a water jacket, I’m sure it’s a good unit it just looks odd…

The heatexchanger is just too small to be any good…

It might be worth reading the Hofmann’s thread via their website on the design they’ve settled for in the chargecooler on the Europa.
What interested me was the resistance the 3 core rad put up and that by simpifying the rad but chucking loads of water over it(huge pump), they improved cooling.

got a link?

Now I know why does my air conditioning never cool as per my desire. It is the location of the heat exhanger.

Any advises on how to help reduce the air coming into the cabin?

These are slightly out of chronological order but I think the first two here are what we were discussing (from memory) but they are all a good read
