I’m thinking about going charge cooled and make my own using laminova cores, because diy is fun.
For radiator there seems to be tree options. A more conventional front mounted unit, horizontal stacked with AC condenser and engine radiator, or rear wheel arch mounted.
There are pros and cons with all three, but horizontal stacked with AC condenser and engine radiator is to me the overall most attractive. Main concern is flow limitation to engine radiator.
For such stacked radiator one can either buy off shelf item (have only found one - ProAlloy) or have one fabricated. If taking the custom fabrication route there is also the option to make a combined CC and engine rad unit.
Anyone on here with some good experience on different CC radiator solutions?
From the experience I have witnessed down here in OZ I would put it under the front crash structure - you can channel plenty of air to it and it doesn’t get heated by the engine rad …
I found the Proalloy one worked really well. Out the box. You still have the DIY fun and games of fitting it, but it does fit and work
Order thro’ Dave.
I’ve used the Hangar 111 setup and been happy with it. If starting from a completely blank piece of paper another option would be to consider having the CC rad positioned next to the engine rad, not stacked against it. This would reduce the area for the engine rad so you would need to look at increasing the overall thickness to give you the capacity you need, but it would mean that both had a completely clean cold airflow.
