My S1 has a catch tank and breather kit fitted. (the invoice states that it is for the 340r?)

Does anyone know what it does?

It collects the vapour from the cam cover - usually that gets recirculated back into the air box to be burnt.

So you will have a hose from the cam cover ( two pipes into one )to a ( most likely ) aluminium tank … which will eventually fill up will water ( condensation ) and oil …

The advange is when on track quite a bit of oil can find its way down the breather and instead of gumming up the airbox it goes to the tank

Depends on the condition of your rings. I would check it after a track day to gauge how often you will have to drain it. Don’t be surprised if you find no real oil accumulation. If you have to drain it after a day at the track,you’ve got serious motor problems.

The pipes on your are much more tidy.

Mine go over the middle of the boot (joke) and get in the way if you need some storage.

I’ve seen some photos of ones done like that before… I think some of the cars came factory like that?

Is the catch tank itself a Lotus part ?..If so can someone let me know the part number of that too ?

Sean, have you managed to source the 2 in 1 pipe? If so where? I believe the Lotus breather kit is obsolete (ie no longer available)

No, not managed to get one yet. Still waiting on a call back from Lotus
