Castrol RS vs Mobil 1

Hi Guys - I am struggling to find some cazzy to top up so I bought some same grade mobil 1. I’m sure the oil debate has been done to death so forgive me if I missed any posts to this effect (I did search first). Can someone put my mind at rest that it wont knacker anything topping up with the Mobil 1?

I have often used Mobil 1 Motorsport when I couldn’t get RS and in my experiance with cars running both solid and hydraulic lifters it is perfectly fine.

Sean…

Thanks Sean

PS well done for chosing the best colour

Cheers mate, you to!!!

Anyway, any fully synth will be fine for the road but (In my humble experience) you need something at least w50 grade, preferabley w60 (Mobil 1 M’Sport 10w60 is my preferred lube ) for track work and then you’ll not burn much oil all day long.

Otherwise with a 0w40 grade I find I do about 1/2 to 1L of oil per trackday!

It’s a conspiracy woooohhhhhaaaa etc…

Thanks for the info. When my gayness subsides and I track it I will make sure it’s changed

don’t take this as read but… i wouldn’t mix Castrol RS with Mobil 1 … they are probably okay to mix but as fully synthetics from two top line producers, i’d hazard a guess that they have differing chemical compositions and might not be be entirly miscible in one another… I’d always top-up with what’s already in there…

Thanks for the advice. I have not put any in yet so to be on the safe side i’ll try and find some cazzy. Anyone know where is best? I’ll have to bite the bullet and pay whatever as I need some quickly

thanks

Simon @ http://www.opieoils.co.uk/ is ya man, mention SELOC / Exiges.com and you should be able to get a discount…

It still may work out expensive with the shipping but he has everything in stock

I’ll get onto it now - many thanks

Spoke to Guy (Opie Oils) yesterday and 8l of 0w-40 landed on my desk b4 I got to work. Cost just short of a tenner to ship but cost me more than that in petrol visiting several pants motorshops to find some

Another great result thanks again!

Just to add to REM My S2 running , according to the dealer on 1000 ml service, Mobi1 0w 40 used no oil in 2200 mls (after 1000ml service) including my first track day at Oulton in December, where I spent more time worrying about my car and getting out the way of other cars than actually driving it so i discount that for oil consumption. However I did the 2 back to back track days at Anglesey and managed to get rid of 3/4 ltr of oil!! I was pressing somewhat harder than Oulton though. Changing tomorrow for some Mobil 1 15w 50 Motorsport after reading some of the oil related posts to see how that burns at Croft.
