Anyone going to this, we should be there at some point during the day
It’s always very well attended, & best to go & watch only IMHO. As those driving get just two 6 lap sessions (including out & in laps), it is safe to call it worst track day ever
I’ve done it once. Never again.
Some lovely cars to drool over though
i may go and watch this…whos gonig then?
what details should i kno?
cost, times, etc?
Too late to book track time, it sold out ages ago. It’s free to spectate & park your car near the paddock with everyone else though. The meeting lasts pretty much all day 9am ish to 5pm ish.
HTH
David Rowatt (blownk) has arranged for a bunch of LoTRDC cars and their respective drivers (including me) to offer passenger laps for charity. For 20, all of which goes to the Teenage Cancer Trust charity, you get 5/6 laps in an Elise/Exige piloted by a clinically insane racing driver plus some related goodies. No bookings, just turn up at any time.

I hope to be there (just to watch).
Will they have trade stands ???
Hope to see some of you there then, we’ll be in the S1 Laser Blue Exige with an Exiges.com sunstrip and a small exiges.com above the exhaust
anyone past newbury, j13 m4 that wanna meet up for the drive down??
would be cool to go
I’ll be there early for a couple of hours but I’ve got to be at Specialised Paintwork by lunchtime to get the front clam resprayed.
I should be there at some point in the morning.
no offence timmy o marra,
but there are places left,
its a good day out with a double session of driving,(one in the morning one in the afternoon)
then after each session you can que up for open pit lane.
so you can drive four sessions (15 mins each) for 79
not the bargain of the century ,but an hours hard driving is good enough for me .
and meeting all the folks.
No offence taken of course
But I’ll stick with my earlier view I found the lines at castle Combe particularly difficult to learn, especially with a measly 12 laps total
If CL want to move into the 21st century they need to make it open pit lane IMHO.
Its a great day for viewing lovely cars though. Unfortunately this year it clashes with a wedding bash…
Mine
Have a good 'un
i agree with you tim,
there will be a lot of waiting around.
and CL do need to sort out a open pit lane,
lets hope they do in the future.
well it will be my first time at a track day…
so i may just come and watch and meet a few people for now…
how much is entry into the combe?
and where will you all be!?
It’s usually free to attend if you’re not going on the track
awsome…
ill try find some peopel in the morning…
make ur self known if u can.
lee
Only made it for a few hours, but still had time for a good look round.

Hello all, I hope you will forgive the intrusion but I was wondering if anyone can help put me out of my misery please…!
My wife took this picture at the Castle Coombe track day (26 May) at about 1:45 ~ 2:00pm. Incidentally it was our 5th visit since 1990, will be in a Lotus one day I hope!
I think the guy on the right with the “pit pass” around his neck was helicoptered in as a VIP (something interrupted the display lap anyway). He was talking about developing or redesigning something (Esprit? Elan?) but she was too shy / embarrassed to ask who he was!
Can anyone identify him? I thought it might be Peter Stevens when she first mentioned it but obviously not on checking. I couldn’t find anything much about the day at Club Lotus (or anywhere else on the web come to that) would anyone here be able to help identify him?
I know it isn’t strictly Exige related but I have few photos of the day I can upload as “payment” if anyone is interested… Many thanks, Bfef.
That’s Big Si from Lotus Esprit World. He’s leaning on Bibs, LEW founder.
He’s had a run of very bad health, so, as a surprise, the guys on LEW completely restored his Esprit for him. This was the first time he had seen it (they introduced it to him by driving it round the track as he looked on), he didn’t know the renovations were happening.
He wasn’t helicoptered in as far as I know, he turned up in as a passenger in an Esprit as he can’t drive at the moment.
Just an “ordinary” chap with some pretty good mates.
Thank you so much Fiona, what a fantastic tale. Just checked out LEW and found this:
Castle Combe ‘The Hand Over’ Saturday 26th May
Saturday saw the handover of our little project back to it’s owner after some 2,000 man hours of work, enough parts to sink a fair sized battleship and a ruined pair of shorts. Despite 47 Esprit’s and around 70 people from LEF in attendance we maintained the surprise until BigSi saw his Esprit driving out onto the track at around 2pm! Cue many tears, much back slapping followed by joy and smiles and more emotion he seemed pretty made up to say the least!
A big thank you to everyone involved, from the smallest help to the huge sacrifices made by some, this has been a brilliant time and shows that Esprit owners are a different breed. Also thanks to Alan Morgan at Club Lotus for giving us the exclusive track time on such a busy day. Good on you all, well done for making such an acheivement a reality, it makes me proud to be a part of what we have.
Read all about it on the forum and view photos, video of the magical moment and more now!
Regards
Bibs
