Carbon Wrapping

Anyone on here had any done ?

My armourfend on the lower sides is looking a little yellow so I was thinking of getting it replaced and after looking at the web carbon wrapping looks good if done correctly

Any thoughts ?

John is your Carbon Wrapping man. He has done some nice door cards recently.

John as in JSR ???

Did my access panels some time ago. JSR thought they where carbon until they removed them, so guess they look ok. Easy to use but not in these freezing temps.
You will also need your hair dryer from your S2 tool kit  First one took me about an hour to do but the second only took 10 mins. you soon get the hang of it. I used the 3m stuff and bought it online, loads of suppliers there.

Priceless

Yep.

He has a Snap On hair dryer!!

Like you he has a receding demand for its primary use

I shave my head, it doesn’t fallout on its own!

Also apart from the hair dryer you will need a sharp knife and I used a tile grout squeegee but an old credit card will work well too.

I did the front splitter on my exige with the aid of a hiar dryer and the dining room table. Relatively straight forward once you get the hang of stretching the material. Apart from the above tools, having someone else around to assist makes a big difference. By the time you realise you need a third hand it is too late!!

But you do have a unique carbon fibre dining table

Not so unique sadly :frowning:

A mere snip at $34k :astonished:

Is the carbon wrap up to the spec of the armourfend in terms of resisting stone chips? If not I could imagine it would look fairly tatty quite quickly.

Also, less than keen to answer the question about why use wrap rather than the full monty on an Exige.

Thought this was a Swizz Beatz thread

I used it as the splitter on mine was cracked when i bought the car. I did not want to spend a lot on a new one which could easily get damaged again. So far the wrap appears bullet proof with the advantage that it is easy (with a bit of heat) to remove it and do again. Cost is only about 20 to 30 for the material.
