Carbon Loraine CL6's

Really fed up with the pad tranfer on RS14’s so thinking about Carbon Loariane CL6’s.

Anyone tried them ? What do you think ?

The CL5+ are getting good reviews with many users.

Any feedback welcome.

Thanks

A lot of us use Performance Friction pads, but the downside is they are very dusty when first used and do not bed them in in the rain or you never get the stuff off :frowning:
The CLs seem to be getting some good reviews but I have seen a few posts about pad breakup problems as well.

Can I ask what ‘pad transfer’ is please ?

Elements of the pad material being deposited/bonded unevenly to the disc - similar feel to warped disks.

Exhibit A

ah right, thanks chaps.

Yes I get this alot with my RS14’s, I have no idea what to get next as CL’s seem to fall apart and PF’s wreck your wheels :frowning:

Gav had this a lot with RS14s - It must be something to do with the ABS on S2’s.

I think Gav went back to using RS42’s - I’m sure he posted about it so might be worth a search.

To be honest, my last 2 sets of PFs have been fine, you just have to watch using them on their first couple of trackdays in the rain and then they are ok, Damon said the pads are designed like that so the 24hr racers can have them fitted and get straight on it, therefore the first bit of the pads is very soft.

Thanks Guys,

what is the definitive bedding in procedure for new pads ? Must do it right this time to give them a chance. I have got a garage full of 1/4 worn pads of diffrent types.

Thanks

I’ve found the PFs good, but preferred the Rs14s. seem to lock the PFs too easily which makes you less confident to really jump on them at the last minute. That said the last set of 14s trashed my ap discs so in no hurry to go back.

My RS14’s have only had two outings and there is a noticable lip on the disc.

DO NOT USE CL6 PADS ON A ROAD CAR !!!

I had these pads on for about 500 road miles with brand new disc and they wore the discs down by over half of there usable thickness, they also make so much dust/iron fillings that both sides of my car needed clay baring because T cut would not touch it.
Having said that i have a full set for sale like new for 60 + Post

PF’s dont need any bedding in as has been stated, just chuck them in and get on the gas!!

Ive got CL5’s on mine only done about 1.5k including the norlog trackday but am very pleased with them so far, much less dust than standard and great feel.

Changed to CL5’s now. What about bedding in ? what is the official way ?

Thanks

Best Regards

Henry

I dont know what the official way is but i just did plenty of hard braking on an empty road at night, then went for a long drive the next day and were fine.
