Carbon fibre air box question

This might seem like a silly question, but what is the differance between the carbon fibre air box and the standard one? Obviously I know one is made of carbon fibre, but is it bigger or as well? Also is there anywhere to get one other than Lotus and at extreme cost?

So does anyone have any measurement differences between the two? As I’ve found a company that makes them, but they can’t confirm if it’s a copy of the standard GRP one or a copy of the carbon fibre one and I don’t want to buy a carbon fibre version of my GRP one

So, is there any advantage to the carbon airbox over the GRP one - apart from the fact it looks nicer

If I could do one thing it would be to make the carbon airbox deeper. When the ITG filter is fitted, there is only about 3/4 inch between the outside of the filter and the inside of the airbox. The Jenvey DTH TB box is much deeper and I am sure this would allow better breathing.

The OEM does look good though!

Pete, the guy i bought my car off fitted longer trumpets and fitted a spacer between the throttle body and the air box. I’ll show you on the 11th April if you want

Interesting about the longer trumps… had discussed that with DVA too!

I’ve just started doing a new airbox for the Elise/Exige that’s been deepened up by 25 mm to accommodate 90 mm trumpets.

It’s only for Jenvey throttle bodies though.
