Sorry to hear that.
When the engine ran the last time did it work fine and you just tried to start it now or did you do any work on the car since the last run?
If you smell petrol the ECU triggers the injectors and this is only done if the crank sensor delivers a valid signal so the sensor should be fine.
Although a vacuum leak does affect the mixture it won’t stop the engine from running. I once forgot to reconnect the vacuum hose to the fuel pressure regulator.
The engine idled fine even with the wrong fuel pressure and a massive vacuum leak due to the open hose.
My first suggestions would be to make sure no one messed up the firing order of the plug leads.
And then make sure the camshaft timing of the engine is still fine. On a freshly rebuilt engine all sort of things might happen.
Connecting a suitable OBDII scanner to the ECU will tell you what measured values the various sensors send to the ECU.
Long shot but check the loom connectors to the injectors are seated properly, one of mine had a habit of vibrating loose causing all sorts of bangs on startup and then running on 3 cylinders. There’s a little red square grommet in each connector which are easy to lose.
Had a good chat with John JDS. Start up is good now until it switches to the TB’s then 2 & 3 drop off. Still using original coil pack so will try a new one from wherever I can get one. Took off and reattached all sensors and check vacuum pipes.
Lol! Sit-Rep. Sorted. Played around with the coil pack and adjusted the butterflies. Off it went. Had totally awesome drive on few bumpy roads without issue.
I have literally not had the chance till today and totally didn’t give it a thought. Busy few weeks, Berlin with my wife next weekend which I’m really looking forward to Klaus but I will before the end of the month mate.
