Sad to say that I’m also looking doubtful for Anglesey. Car is up in the air waiting on a new fuel pump and having tried a few of the uprated options including the Lotus one they all seem to be a bit longer than the standard and hence having difficulty getting them to fit in the tank. Lotus suggested it should be modified to fit but we don’t want to be messing about with something as safety critical as the fueling.
If anyone would like my spot please let me know and we can arrange something. Alternatively I might have to have a go in one of the Caterhams.
Had pumps from Lotus and Walbro, its just they don’t fit without either modifying the pump or the housing. Think we’ve identified something but can’t get it till later next week, so things are getting tight.
Will, you have not lost the white plastic ring that goes between the pump mount and the tank have you? It is a gasket\spacer and without it the pump will foul the bottom of the tank! It is about 4mm thick plastic and might have come off with the old pump and got lost?
Yes got the white ring. Issue is getting the uprated pumps to fit inside the retainer, and if you do manage then they are that little bit longer and as you say foul the bottom of the tank.
Sincs managed to fit mine ok, but did ave to modify something, maybe the retainer? Not sure you could try them they have fitted a lot of uprated pumps. Do you really need one? I only had a need from about 270hp+
Things are looking more positive now. We’ve decided to put the original fuel pump back in then drop the tank again as necessary. So hoping that the rest will be done for Friday for the drive up.
i will be there just sharing my brothers elise i just wont have my car there. Jabba sport messed up and fitted the wrong cams and thats why ive been having so much trouble getting it mapped. Never mind the new cams are on there way but it just wont be running by this weekend as the cams are custom grinds so will take a little while to get. Should make good power when its finished though.
