Cam Belt Change

I am about to carry out my C service (I have not done on before).

Although it is not mentioned in the WSM I am worried about the tensioner spring, I would have thought this should be replaced when the belt and tensioner are renewed. Is this advisable?

I am more used to the older Lotus engines, the 1558 and the 907.

Does anyone check the actuial belt tension with a burroughs gauge or a frequency test?

Also is there anything else to look for on a C service?

thanks

Kevin

I changed the tensioner (to a manual type) and the water pump at the same time. Actually, my engine man did and a few other people advised the same. It’s also worth checking the cam seals at the time.

Spring now ordered from a Lotus dealer, was not sure if a VHPD spring was the same as a normal K16 spring.

Don’t use the spring to tension the belt. It is unreliable.

Just use the 90 degree twist method.
