Buying an S2 with over 260bhp..... trouble?

Rarely causes much extra damage.
mechanical sympathy has nowt to do with the bang imho . Torque is the killer.
surprised that 260 did it tho…
normally it’s a pulley swap and a dose of mid range twistery that breaks the teeth.
a competent builder will need to rebuild the box cos even with specialist tools it can get expensive if things break.
Alternatively just buy a Celica box for 150 quid and it’ll probably last for years

Quaife sequential

I feel for you,…so many of us have had those ‘oh cock’ moments when you realise you’ve encountered a mechanical issue that’s gonna spoil your day :frowning:

Good luck getting it sorted eh…

How was the ‘7’? Really hope to get mine around Anglesey soon…

The internals of my box was destroyed by the 3rd gear failure, well actually it was the 300miles I drove home from Spa with all the metal floating around in the oil that destroyed the gearbox

Seems expensive but factor in the cost of installing an LSD and it make man maths sense, well I does to me

Now we’re talking, certainly takes the edge off
