Britcar Season Finale

Hi Guys,

Last race of the Britcar season for us. We qualified 1st by 8 thousandths of a second (a 48.8) but my co-driver binned it on the warm up lap!! We managed to salvage 6th overall despite being 4 laps down. We’ve come 2nd in Class for the series…

We’ve entered the last Elise Trophy race at the weekend as it’s the last modified class race. Hopefully the car will win, but sadly i will only there for moral support! Hope to meet some guys there.

Some photos from the weekend…

Good luck this weekend, will keep an eye out for the result.

Loving the car… best of luck in the Trophy…

We will be there helping out Dave Harvey with his 340R, so you will have to excuse me if I only hope that you come 2nd!!!

Will have to catch up with you Sean, hows that website coming along? Is John going to be there?

Jamie Stanley was giving some tuition to a guy (N/A Honda Exige) in the series in the week. His face dropped when we said we’d be at the race! Do you know what car Jamie drives, i understand he won at Brands GP last time?

Jameie races the white MSC Honda’d Elise. I think he is running on his own in the race and will undoubtedly be pretty rapido.

In all fairness Englebert, your car, wonderful as it is, does not comply with the “Modified Class” regulations of LOT.

Hope you, & everyone elase have a great weekend - sorry I can’t be there to support you!

PS Recorded the Britcar Race last night - hoping to watch it over the weekend.

No, you’re right, there are many detail things that don’t suit the regs. Thing is, it’s not worth the hassle ensuring it meets them. In our defence it does still run a k-series though, there are certainly faster cars out there (in a straightline).

The Britcar race on Sky was from Silverstone. Sadly the Elise doesn’t feature much as it’s all about the GT cars. You’ll see a nice pass near the start though.

Yeah, I did see Rob Barff’s move, before I had to go out :sunglasses:

Yeah your main competition is without doubt going to be Jamie. His car is well proven (all be it only in sprint races) and he is undoubtably the best driver to have ever driven in the LOT series. He has a NA HOnda with a standard gearbox, so his car is heavier than yours with less aero and doesn’t have a sequential box, but he will be there or there abouts. The other big hitter will be Randy, he will have ALL of the power, but again his car has only doen short sprint races and he has a 2nd driver in Ben Pitch, that is very good, but has next to no experiance in Randys car.

John will indeed be there, I am really looking forward to it actually!!

I hope ebveryone’s lights work as it is positivly dark now from 4ish pm onwards.

Bear inb mind none of the LOT people have driven in the dark. Jamie and Randy have both completed 24 hr races in the past.

Yeah, shame it doesn’t go properly into the night as we’ve done two night races in the last month or so! It will be pretty dark for the last half an hour i guess.

Our biggest advantage as you’ve alluded to is that it probably one of few Elises that is proven over a long distance (and it’s taken a good while to get to that stage!).

Looking forward to it too, just a shame i’m not in the car!! See you there.

Yeah, see you there matey!!

So what happened???

Here you go:

211 1st, Jamie 2nd then us 3rd.

Was a bit disappointing, we ran on the same setup as last weekend and it proved far too stiff in the race. We’re just not used to the tyres and ideally would have fitted in a test/track day to mess around. Not bad though, the 211 managed to pit under safety car so got a massive advantage.

What happened to Mr Harvey looked like he expired after 8 or so laps??

Rover engine, of course!

Never going to be “reliable” when pushing 240bhp plus. Wish it were otherwise, but the facts say otherwise.

Dave had a misfire, nothing more. He spun is the damp conditions and hit the barrier, the car came back to the pits and was so full of gravel, plus the front splitter was broken and the wheel had been hit, so Dave called it a day. Was a great shame as he had qualified well.
