Esteem 01252 801525 or 01483 706051Steady on about Lotus Racing Green ! It’s very exclusive you know !!
Sorry RobS - to show how easily swayed I am I’ve bought the Green one - pick it up tomorrow YIIIIPPPEEEE. IU’ll be the one on the M1/M6 accelerating to 80 (well maybe more, putting it in third and backing off to 60 just to hear the devil fart). Thanks to everyone for your help in getting info. etc - made the buying a lot more fun - now for the driving
MilesGreat stuff [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]So, are you coming to our meeting in Bolton on Wednesday 2nd April? You’ve no excuse!!!
Sorry Pesky,Can’t do Wed 2nd April - I’m helping to teach scuba diving that evening but I have already booked the 1st Wed in May as a “lads night at the pub”.See you then. Where can I get some rear clam shell protectors for the exposed edge of the rear clam behind the doors?
MilesScuba diving - pah!!! [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]Rear clam protectors - get them from a Lotus dealer. As far as I know, they are just “offcuts” from a suitable windscreen rubber seal.Have you thought about driving to Anglesey this Saturday? A few of our guys (RussT & JohnO) are there for a trackday, & I’m sure they will gladly give you a passenger ride, so you can experience what an Exige can really do! To be frank, until you’ve been on track in one, you can’t appreciate the car’s true capabilities. Unfortunately, I’m in Cornwall this weekend for a family party, but I’ll be day dreaming of Anglesey throughout Saturday - I just love that circuit [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]
GOT IT YEEEEHAAAA. [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image] [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image] [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image] [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image] [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image] Drove up from London yesterday - all the ugly Southeners were impressed with my Northern rugged good looks and charm - they kept stareing and pointing at me.The current Mrs Turner (wife) took one look and said it’s ugly and fat - I know I shouldn’t have but what would you have done - God made me say it - “so are you” - she had a humor bypass.Drive back was ace apart from crap traffic on M40/M6 but who cares. Two little niggles - the roof is creaking like **** and getting on my T*TS - had a hard top on my Elise and no problems - I was thinking about releasing all the securing clips etc and stuffing padding between the roof and the roll bar then re tightening the fixings - any thoughts. Also - when I open the perspex engine cover to put in all my luggage, golf clubs and weeks shopping in the boot the cover rubs against the roof (by the hinge)- are the two problems related - roof not on correctly?Speed dumps aren’t much fun - I’m having to drive around to find roads without them as the front numberplate is catching.Pesky,Can’t do Angelsey this weekend - I’m diving in Pwethelli (spelling problem I think) - two of us with 4 air cylinders and full kit so the beast is in the garage (and the car as well).I would love to sit in on a track day - any offers/dates - I’m away most weekends getting slaughtered somewhere in the world so need to plan ahead.

An innivotive (sp) design of a piece of cardboard rammed in between the roll bar and roof. Works well.Boot lid also rubbed but was adjusted by garage… Glad you like it though! I might even get mine back this weekend - fingers crossed!
Congratulations! welcome to the club.I would have said the same to my wife (or anyone’s wife for that matter), but mine actually loves the Exige and besides, she’s thin and gourgeous [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/tongue.gif[/image]About the creaking roof, mine did a bit at one time, I dismounted it (three screws in the front and two clips in the back), cleaned the contact surfaces (no padding, there was some dust) and no more creaking.I woud not add the padding because that might create some water entry. On the back cover, I don’t see where it can rub. Maybe you have to see another Exige to see if there’s anything different, and it’s not clear to me how or where.Or you could take a picture of the part that touches and post it here for all to see? [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]Cheers,Uldis
It took B&C three attempts to fix my creak (you do get use to it after a while, just drive faster to drown it out!).They tried something between the roll bar and roof but it wasn’t that. It could have been coming from rear screen catch or even the petrol pipe area. They never told me, I’m just glad it’s gone. I can all kind of noises now.Ian [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]
[QUOTE]Originally posted by Tubbs: An innivotive (sp) design of a piece of cardboard rammed in between the roll bar and roof. Tubbs, cannot beleive you would resort to using a bit of old cardboard on an engineering masteriece like the Exige. I was talking to Uncle Pesky about my “creak”, the other week and he assures me the correct and slightly more technical fix is to jam a beer mat in [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/rolleyes.gif[/image] Miles, as Tubbs said, the engine cover hinge can be adjusted. Bet your getting some strange looks from the old b*ggars in Southport [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif[/image]
OK I know I’m obviously stupid and must be IT iliterate and most of all am going to feel even more so for asking this… but how come when I reply with quote it never appears in bold type [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/confused.gif[/image]
Thanks for all the feed back - I’m useless at technical stuff but the beer mat seems to strike a cord.To be fair to the current Mrs Turner she isn’t that ugly or fat but she offended my car - do women never learn - I’m sure once I’ve taken her for a drive she’ll appreciate it for it’s deep down suble & gentle personality. Not everyone in Southport is old - only most of them so I’ve taken the afternoon off and am scaring old ladies on Lord Street
Well the beer mats seem to work - even managed to adjust the hinge on the engine bay cover - my Mum would be proud of me.Not yet had much of a chance to play but happy as a pig in ****. It came with Elise Corbeau seats fitted - very nice but drivers seat is in a fixed position and the previous owner was somewhat shorter than me - the rails that it secures to only allowed for one more adjustment backwards (about 10mm) so not too successful. Does anyone else have the Corbeaus and had problem/idea. May have to revert to original seats if not careful.
Miles, some people like the Courbeau seats a lot, I happen to like the normal leather ones, the position/shape is perfect. But you don’t really need to change them, just install the sliding mechanism. You can get those from a variety of suppliers, for ex. Demon Tweeks.Website: http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/ but there’s not too much in there, better call them to get their paper catalog.Or if you live close by, drive there and choose. Miles, glad we could help with the cardboard fix!I have a whole host of other remedies if needed, including:How to make a knackered Lancia Integrale Evo engine sound like it is not really brokenHow to hide rust spots on BeetlesClutch slipping - quick fix for that last minute saleHow to re-wire up dodgy lightsWhich fuses are really necessarySpare bolts - all cars have themStereo fitting without a fitting kitFixing BMW electric windows before sellingHow to get a car MOT’d without ever taking it to the garageMOT’s - wipers don’t work - simple fix around this problemThe list is quite endless and definately for the cowboys!
Uldis - thanks for that - just had a look at DemonTweeks and got their phone no. Also tried Corbeau site and every car mounting bracket in the world is listed but not Lotus - POOOO.The original seats would probably be more practicle for me as I used the car daily and probably wont ever do a full blown track day.Tubbs - remind me never to buy a second hand car (or anything else by the look of it) from you
Hehehehe… [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image] [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]
Ring up Lotus! Its the same with anything like that - Lotus will hold all the rights to sell parts like this. Try getting Safety Devices to sell you a roll cage!Cheers
Hi folks - still awaiting Corbeau or Deemon Tweeks to get back to me about sliding seat adjustment but what the F***, I’m just over 6" - who cares if I have to have an operation on the long bones of my legs to shorten them so I can get in.Done well over 500 miles in last 10 days and loving every minute of it (will need to calm down as has 5K milage limit on insurance).Took the current Mrs Turner out for the 1st time on Saturday - she tired to reply to a text message and was nearly sick after the first 5 miles [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image] [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image] [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image] - there is a god after all
