Bloody hell, that’s some dandruff
Has Russ ordered a news blackout Rob
It was a good day at Brands today, only one red flag all day…
There’s always one idiot

Really? Who caused that?
Sean, for not telling Russ how powerfull his king K engine is
Has Russ ordered a news blackout Rob
I was rather hoping that Ben was in the right place, for once, & caught the incident in all its glory
Appears there were failures today, then
Russ daren’t go home tonight - in fact he’s taken refuge at the “Edwards Rest Home for Disgraced Racing Drivers” in Loughborough, where he is undergoing some serious counselling with the good Dr S Artois Dip So

Yeah was a very good day yesterday. Was great to see everyone and have a natter. All of our cars seemed to be going well. I couldn’t really fault mine, it took 9,000rpm for all of the time I was on track.
The scarey part was seeing the gritting wagon going round the track in the morning. I really did, think “what the hell am I doing here”. If you had put a wheel off the tarmac you were into the snow!!!
The only part that failed all day was the northern monkey I let behind the wheel in the afternoon. LOL!!!
To clarify for everyone, Russ went out for a blast in my car and after about 10 laps he stuck it in the gravel. Thankfully Russ was OK and the only damage to the car was a bit of a bashed front clam. Thankfully I never got it painted last week because my painter mate was ill.
Russ was heard muttering that he simply couldn’t handle the power and my be changing his plans and installing a K series!!!
I hear his Honda engine is already on EBay!!!
Thankfully they had broken up the frozen gravel traps in the morning!!!
Was that the 1.8l that was cobbled together ahead of the last MESC race? (that was cancelled)
Yeah the 1.8. It went back to Simon for a few more tweeks while my gearbox was being fixed. But its now been in my car since December and has done two track days and a few hundred road miles with out any dramas.
Ahh so its only a 1.8!!
I wondered why i kept pulling away from you so easily

And he had his handbrake off
Is the gearbox working well now Sean? I am really looking forward to seeing the car in action at Brands. Hopefully I will be on the grid for Snetterton.

Yeah mate, you will have to rev yours a bit harder to keep up next time!
Mind you, you did only have three injectors working for half of the day!!!

Yes the gearbox is working really well now. When Russ went into the gravel he was in 5th gear and said he tried to change down to third. However when they dragged him out of the gravel the car was stuck in 5th. When we got the undertray off, the reason it was stuck in gear was because there was a load of gravel stuck in the rocker arm that connects the solenoid to the gear change lever on the gearbox. Once we had cleared that it all worked fine.
The only thing we can put Russ not being able to change down immediatly before he went off too, was that the solenoid had got a bit warm and lost efficency or Russ was simply blaming the car for him binning it off!!
The solenoid was hot. I usually duct cold air from the passenger side duct onto it, but the engine now takes its air from there and I simply had not bothered to put in another cooling duct and the car had just done the 40 minute test session and then Russ jumped in to do the 20 minute track day session.
For its next test day I will have a duct going from the roof scoop onto the solenoid. Plus I wont be letting Russ back in it, so all should be fine from here on in!!
Sean…

Russ wouldnt do that would he ??
Russ wouldnt do that would he ??
In all seriousness, we’ve probably done over 60 days together in the last 6 years, plus he’s had a goodly number of races too. I can honestly say that I can only remember him spinning twice (first at Elvington in torrential rain, & then secondly in the dry at Anglesey - both trackdays, not races), & at no time has he been in a gravel trap.
However, yesterday just proved that he’s completely lost it, & it’s about time he gave way to the young guns
