Brands Hatch trackday - 2 days ago

I attended a track day at Brands Hatch two days ago, in aid of injured Royal Marines.

I was amazed to find the most amazing collection of cars I’ve ever come across at any single event

Easily my best event of 2011, and the Exige performed wonderfully in that company  The new suspension was very good, and I just about coped with the wet conditions. It was so wet at times, it almost made me wish I had the trick electronics most of those cars had though.

Anyway, 2 pages of pics here:

And a video here:

A few of the cars there were Benetton F1, Enzo, F40, Lamborghini Aventado, McLaren.

wow, some sweet machines on show there…

Very cool :sunglasses: Well done - great cause!

Thanks guys, yes some amazing cars there :astonished:

Here’s what happened over the lunch break:

Lunchtime

Pretty humbling experience seeing what those guys have gone through. One of guys, who has two artificial legs, couldn’t get into the Exige unfortunately.

One of the soldiers whilst queuing looking at the grid line up chirped out, “Jesus, it’s like my Gran Turismo dream garage”. Another said “it was the best day of his life”.

One of the ladies we gave a lift to said she had lost her service husband recently. She revealed that this was probably the first time she had laughed or smiled since her loss.

Many exigers/Lotus owners know how you feel - e.g. Nyloc, & Martin Edwards, to name but two, organise some smashing “charity day” trips for us to meet poorly kids & their families. We tend to take our cars/other supercars for granted…but for very many folk they’re really out of this world, & we can help give them a day of a lifetime.

I guarantee the fat lad I took out at Brunters will remember that day for the rest of his life…he never signed up for lawnmowing at the end of the runway

Must make more effort to get out for this kind of event next year…as Pesky said it really is the worthy thing to do.

That’s no way to talk about SeanB!

Spot on

I did the Dunton event at Ford’s track 1 month ago in aid of Littlehavens, and it was similarly rewarding.

See this message we got (below) from one of the Little Havens team. Makes me 100% determined to attend again next year, and I have to admit it brought a tear to my eye.

"What a fantastic day yesterday! We have had some awesome feedback from the public who attended the event and as always singing the drivers praises for giving them such an amazing experience.

I would like to say a massive thank you myself and from the team from Little Havens for the support and hard work given from the drivers on the day, this event would not happen without you guys and I hope that from our point of view we are getting there as far as the organizing and making sure that you are all looked after. I appreciate your patience with the last minute changes that were put in place by Ford but on a positive they were really happy and looking forward to hosting the event again next year.

To give an example of the difference that this event makes aside from the monetary benefits, we had one of our boys from Little Havens, who is car mad and had attended nearly all of the Ferrari events and the track day events since we started them come along last year despite being very poorly as his condition had become progressively worse and really enjoyed himself, and as his mum said, smiled for the first time in ages.

Unfortunately he lost his battle and died 2 weeks after the event. He was 13 years old. His mum was truly grateful as all he talked about was the track day event and the cool drivers.

This is not the only story like this and I only tell it to show what a difference the event and you guys make.

We are looking at exceeding 34k which is great news and will make a real difference to the families who use our services.

Thanks again and I will let you all know as soon as I have the date for next years event.

Many Thanks

I signed up to it on the petrolheadsnirvana web site this year. The previous time, I signed up through Club Scuderia. I’d suggest using the first website, unless you’re already a member of the latter.

Or you could contact Little Havens direct, since you are local
