Brake Upgrade options??

Thats interesting, not heard that before.

I’m guessing I should change my drilled APs next spring as not only do I have the usual cracks spreading out from the holes, I also have small cracks in the non-drilled areas. I was hoping a switch to grooved discs would eliminate the risk of cracking!

For the mileage I do, I’ll probably just stick with the stock drilled 308mm APs and Pagid RS14s as I’ve been very satisfied with them over the last 3years. [/quote]

The cracking is quite different, on the drilled discs the cracks are long and can (mine did) go right through the discs and start at the edges of the holes and go towards the outside and inside of the disc.
The grooved discs (in my experience) suffer from surface cracks (these exist on drilled as well) these are and look nowhere near as serious as they are on the surface of the disc and do not seem to risk the integrity of the disc itself.

Yeah I’d say the newest cracks I have (not from the holes) are only surface cracks as they don’t look as serious as the cracks coming from the holes - although those don’t look to have grown much over the years either.

For all I know, the car could still be on its original discs as I’ve no evidence to suggest otherwise, and I’ve more than doubled the mileage from what I bought it at (from 7K up to 18K).

I have a set of carbon discs and pads on one of our 2-elevens. They haven’t been tested in anger yet and I’m waiting for the new 4 pot calier to run (you need to modify the normal AP 4 pot if you want to run them as they are).

At the moment the final disc compound hasn’t been released so it’s a bit academic but we’re mixing T around 3k for callipers, discs and pads.

The disc used is he same as F2 so not massive.
