I have recently replaced my disks and pads, pagid rs-14 all round as I had before. Only change to my previous setup is the addition of ally belled 308 AP’s up front (standard calipers).
The brake squeal is unbearable! Those that were on the fish and chip run Sunday will agree. I know they are a track biased pad but previous sets never made a sound.
I’ve tried ceratec and a set of anti squeal shims, made no difference so they will be getting shelved.
What are people using for fast road (excluding any that are known to fall apart!) that don’t squeal, they prob wont be doing any track days and if I do I could always put the rs-14’s back in.
I had thought about the 42’s but have heard that they are quite likely to squeal too, would be an expensive mistake if they did.
Also, as the brake bias is some way forward would it be ok to leave the rs-14 pads in the rear and swap to a more road biased pad in the front? I dont think the rears are making any noise.
performance friction is the only race pad I have had that doesn’t squeal, just dusty instead. I hate squeal as well and my last 14’s were bad as well, one of the many reasons they got binned
Still a big fan of rs 42s, use some cera tec rather than copper grease and they have no noise at all. Great all round pad, might not be the ultimate in track day stuff though.
