Brake pad question.....

Whilst at Anglesey on Friday my front brakes began to protest slightly. They still hauled the car’s speed down well but they didn’t feel entirely happy towards the end of the day. I’m using the 2-Eleven’s standard discs, 2 piston front brakes with Pagid RS14’s all round.

My discs seem to show low wear with no significant step in the surface where the pad meets the disc. The front discs look like the RS14’s have been laying uneven pad material though.

I was thinking of swapping the front discs to the rear and vice versa and moving to a different pad up front (or maybe all round).

The Performance Friction pads seem to be the pad of choice for the Lotus Cup guys. Anyone know what compound they use?

For the 2 pot caliper its the 11 compound for the standard rear its the 08 compound (That’s all that’s available in those pad shapes now)

I have them all in stock and use PF pads, Give me a call if you need more info…

Thanks Dave, another option might be RS42’s on the front and stick with the RS14’s on the rear whilst I have the standard calipers.

One day I might treat myself to the 4 pot front set up

I’ll have a think, cheers.

Used to have problems with uneven pad transfer after a hard track day with the RS14. Moved to PF and never had an issue, fingers crossed.
Run all day and never a grumble from the brakes, even when relying heavily on the ABS. Will never go back to the Pagids.

I’m with Will, pad transfer is too much of an issue with RS14 in my opinion.

I used PF too with the same experience as Will but…they do create a lot of dust which if it gets wet forms an impossible to remove cement. This has an aesthetic impact which you may be able to live with (esp on the wheels) but I’ve found can also braking vibration issues (presumably because it binds to the disk) if the car is driven in the wet on the road after heavy dry use (esp when the pads are new).

Thanks guys

That’s brilliant Dave. Did love my big brake kit.

Dave don’t tempt me!! I’ve just spent a fortune at Lotus Motorsport having my full cage fitted. Mrs K would kill me if I spent more money on the 2-11 any time soon.

One of the single best upgrades after shocks is the big brake kit #awesome specially at that price!

The Big Brake kit is a great mod

The 308mm BBK?
