Brake Options (again sorry)

Hi,

I’ve cracked the std front disks so I’m now looking at my options for an change/upgrade.

Options seem to be:

  1. new std disks. Likely to crack again?
  2. EBC turbogroves. May last a bit longer?
  3. Eliseparts alloy bell disks. Extra bling, or true upgrade?
  4. 295 AP Ally belled disks with std calipers
  5. Lotus Sport upgrade. 310 disks and 4 pot calipers.
  6. Anything else I should be considering?

BTW I’ve been running the std disk with RS14s.

Any thoughts on how effective they all are. I’ll factor in cost later

Cheers
Will.

well the best is the Lotus sport kit with 4 pots on AP 308MM disks.

But I run AP 295 ally belled disks with standard calipers and thats find, you can always add a 4 pot caliper later if you so wish.

All the rest are not upgrades just side steps imho.

I am firmly of the belief that the standard callipers are up to the job (especially on an n/a car) I would go for ali bells and get the best discs you can afford - AP3000 are very good and cost a bit more (run them on the race car). AP5000s are OK I had them on the Bemani with decent brake fluid and pagids job done!

if your looking at 3000 you may as well buy alcon disks imo.

Although I do tend to agree with Jamie, I’ve decided to go for the Lotus Sport kit. Reasoned that it has taken be a couple of years to go through the original disks so it may be another couple before there was a convenient opportunity to upgrade again, so might as well go for the best option just now.

Figured that if there are any problems there may be some recourse to Lotus, where as if I went with the other options I’d be on my own.

be interesting to hear how you go with them

So I have the same problem…using Pagid RS14 with Standard discs and now they are dead…

…need to change them so I don’t know best way…
…thinking in getting AP 5000 discs with standard calipers? Is that ok?

What’s the price for this Lotus Sport upgrade?

Haven’t had the new setup on track yet, but first impressions are good. I’ve got a couple of track days next month so I’ll have a better idea then.

As discussed with Jamie above, I think the standard calipers are probably up to the job, but I saw this as an opportunity to upgrade anyway.

The kit was around 1500.

Fools and money and all that
