For me, fear of the unknown. Having looked att he wiki on SELOC it appears quite simple and bearing in mind mine was taken off for a repair only two years ago and all stainless fixings used to replace it should be simple enough.
Just a case of setting aside a a few days to do all the jobs while it’s off to make it worth while.
If you have basic tools ,some old duvets[to upend the clam onto] you can remove and replace it on your own, just note where any shims, rubber supports come from.Just needs a little care and patience and dont try to move the clam about unless its supported using plenty of cushions or thick foam.Did mine on my own and im very old and fcuk.Im sure others will tell you the sama shortly.
Its not difficult. Mine has been on and off twice this month, but it did take about and hour and a half to take off and then about the same to put back on. Can definitely see the appeal of quick release with a multi connector for the electrics. Think the only big deal about it is having to pay someone else for the labour.
Would recommend that you get someone to help you lift it off and on though. Last thing you want to do is twist or drop it, and you don’t want to scratch it on anything.
