Have just finished a short track day… The car felt ok… But I just noticed 1 thing… When I’m using the curbs, the car started to bouncy a bit (1-2 sec after leaving the curbs)…
I haven’t got time to play with the nitron 1 way dampers settings yet… So all corners are set in the middle (12 ?) , Its also A048, 105/115 ride height…
Looks like it needs more rebound damping, but in the case of the single adjustables you can’t adjust it separately from the bump.
If you increase the (only) know you have it will increase both bump and rebound dampings, but then the ride may be too stiff.
Try increasing it, and if it becomes too stiff you may have to send them to Nitron to revalve.
BTW, this is the very same reason why I waited and saved some more money to get the dual adjustables.

Do you mean they may need modifying or just that they may be knackered?
I would have thought that the valving would be a function of the car, the springs and its intended use and this should really have been discussed by the vendor prior to selling them.
You sure the Nylatron bushes are not binding up ( too tight ) ? - That can cause the “bouncing”
I’m pretty sure I don’t have that problem anymore…
After I used the adjustable reamer they are fine . as far as I can tell… And I only felt it when using the curbs, not the rest of the track… Anyway Ill try to increase the damping first, and then I will see.

Well of course I would discuss things with the vendor, but there are some standard items that are sold as is and therefore they are a compromise in another situation.
In fact, I did discuss a lot with Guy, this is why I ended up buying the dual adjustables!
Ah, and I meant modifying. I find that the std Nitrons have far too little rebound damping as stock. Must work for some spring rate/car weight combo though, but not for all.
And to ask, just talk to Guy and tell him that you want more rebound damping.
He’ll get the shocks, measure them in his shock dyno and he’ll know just how much more damping he needs to put.
But yes, Ohlins 46mm must be the best, although none of the dual adjustables will perform if you don’t know how to set them.
I’m learning/practicing on the ones I can afford, and maybe later when I fuly understand them, I’ll see about the Ohlins.
Well…Got another “problem”… The thing is… now my tires starts to “jump”… Not sure what you guys call it… But I can feel the tires is “jumping” a bit, in slow speed corners. which means I will lose some time…(hope it makes sense). Not sure what to do to remove some of this tire jumping.? One idea is to increase the camber at front? On this circuit there is a car which has a lot better grip then me (which bothers me)… and he is running close to 4 degree neg camber at the front (not a lotus)t… SO maybe its worth a try to increase my camber a bit (1 degree now)…??
Any thoughts??
This “problem” is 100% different compare to my “bouncy ride” “problem” … And its not something that just appeared now…
No, because their inner piston is bigger and for the same linear movement it displaces more oil, so the oil displaced can be better managed, i.e. more precise valving.
Sorry, just realised it was the 46mm you mentioned (despite the fact I quoted it ), but they don’t make an Elise/Exige damper in 46mm do they? Or is this something that’s new?
Of course they do!
Ive got them (46mm) too. They really are brilliant.
Not sure when they first made, but I have them for more than a year.
Now about Niceguys problem 1-2 sec of bouncing is definitely not right. If I were you, I would play around with the available damping forces, so I can find the best combination. If no good, then I would send them to Nitron to have them checked.
