I’m working on my exige to try and get it back to a road car for it was used in racing for a large part of it’s life
Having overhauled the wishbones and LSS koni’s, fitted a new main loom, brake calipers, original dash, oil cooler etc
My current projekt is getting a set of the three engine compartement finisher panels
But how much i have tried, sofar i haven’t been able to source these.
Recently a friend of mine, who is a professional glass fibre specialist, suggested that if i could find a set it would be very easy for him to extract a mould and produce a new set of panels
The original panels will not suffer any damage as these are wrapped with a special protective layer before the mould will be made.
I know it’s a long shot, but does anybody have a set of panels which i can borrow, any costs will be covered and i even happy to pay a bit extra or supply an extra set of new panels
Please let me know if you can help me to get my Exige #467 complete again
I would be interested in a set also as I can’t find any either. There is apparently someone here in the UK who actually remakes them but I don’t know who.
Thanks, lets hope somebody from this community takes a step forward and is willing to help us.
I’m sure more people need them or will need them at some point in the future and it would be handy if we have the moulds to reproduce these
The guy i know makes very detailed model supercars and has for instance direct contacts at Pagani for which he made some models of their cars
And is obviously very talented with grp and carbon
Anyway as soon as there is any progress I’ll let you know too
thanks, iso we need at least 4 sets as i know somebody else who also needs them
If only one of the 100 viewers of this thread would be so kind to let us borrow the panels
Come on S1 owners, there is hardly any risk for you and you know you’re gonna make a number of people happy
I will hereby also promise that i’m ready to pay 100 pounds to the person who lets me borrow his panels
Guys
I have a set of panels I bought off Dan that are UK based right now.
I wanted to produce 2 sets in Carbon …
So if someone wants the task, and can get Carbon versions produced also they are available … just let me know
Marten sold his Exige to me so I think he will not look after the finisher panels anymore.
And I was lucky to find a set of original panels which I bought. I might borrow those panels for a reproduction run if anyone is interested in it. The parts are located in Germany.
So the british built and pre-owned Exige has been sold by a dutch guy to me, a German. The finisher panels were sold by an austrian guy who races his Exige in slovakian club racing events. I like being part of the European Community which makes deals like this easy and brings people closer together. I feel sorry that the majority of the british people decided to leave the EC.
Not sure if people are still looking for these but I’ve found a guy in the UK who apparently has the moulds for all the finisher panels. I’m getting some side panels made next week hopefully so will feed back when I get them
Would definitely be interested to see what these are like, I could also use a pair of the over sills if these turn out to be okay.
Do you know where they are based or how much the postage works out? Thanks
They’re in South Wales, postage is reasonable (£8) for the side panels, would probably be more for the full set as the centre section is bulkier.
I already have the centre trim panel and it fits just above the header tank in the OEM location. The side panels just blank off the space above the arch liners/rollbar supports and just help to tidy things up and keep dust out of the luggage bay. Not my pictures but gives an idea:
They were supplied without holes drilled so I offered up the panels and marked out the six holes myself, using the centre section already fitted to the car and the existing holes in the edge of the clam.
Holes drilled, spire clips, scrivets and some anti-rattle tape (non OEM!) attached before fitting (fortunately I had all the fixings ‘in stock’):
They seem nice quality. I will probably paint them at some point as my centre section is painted and doesn’t quite match the black gelcoat of the new side panels, but all in all very happy
