A Hornet! I had one for my 13th birthday!
Is it an original or one of the “retro” new kits? I remember the endless hours taken to build it, the hours of charging the nicads all that waiting and anticipation and then the 3 mins of fun before the nicads went flat!
Its a re release, although I think very little has changed from the original one. My brother had the Hornet and I had a Monster Beetle (well I still do, but its in bits being re built).
I’m looking forward to going having a play when the weather gets better
edit to add, the Batteries now last alot longer approx 25mins and take less than an hour to charge.
PMSL…I remember that well
Hours of endless fun for Boothy, No flat batteries …
PMSL at the birthday boy - have a nice one, Andy
PS Russ says hi to everyone - he stayed over last night, & has just set off to help set up stall for a business conference he’s attending at a hotel 1 mile from here.
Hi Russ
I loved my RC cars when I was young, i always wanted a Kysho Landjump but never had enough money, maybe I should go after one now? I don’t think I have enough toys yet to win

Cheers Rob, Im treating myself to a flight back to UK this weekend so I can look at my Exige(s) and even drive one
Hello Russ !
Hi Russ
Thats ace Boothy i had one in the late 80’s still got the car somewhere but with no batteries or controls.
And another… Hump backed Monster Beetle
I have to confess I bought myself a Schumacher CAT last year… always wanted one when I was a kid but could never afford one then…
Great fun for a bash around… bloomin fast these days with brushless motors and Lipo batteries !!
I am just going to order brushless for the Fire dragon I am building, its 4wd so will hopefully handle it. The MB just has a 540 motor but I don’t think it’s gearbox would take much more… sound familiar Ade?
I took the Hornet out bashing over the weekend at my local country park and had a riot but it no longer looks like the photos as it spent most of its time on its roof.
Did you get a vintage CAT Dave or the new one? Always loved the Schumacher stuff as a kid but most of there stuff is RTR these days and I like building them
Sounds like great fun Boothy, all i have is one of those poxy S2 Exiges from the lotus shop, only good for 5mph and only on flat tarmac of indoors
I have one of those too mate collecting dust, i tried it once but as you say not much fun and all but useless on anything other than a large wooden floor.
I bought the new one - old ones are pretty rare these days although I’d love one just for old times sake to keep on the shelf.
Ooh…just sent you a PM on SELOC re Anglesey.
I must admit I think the beetle may end up on a shelf, seems a shame not to use it but at the same time its twenty odd years old and was actually mine as a kid. Maybe they will re re it like the Dragon and Hornet and save me the worry of damaging my nice new paint

Thanks for the reminder
John\Sean how is my new gearbox?
