Boothy and Fox School of Automotive Excellence

Well after a tough summer of training and planning, I have embarked of my first practical
Anyone not knowing the course and the requirements should read below;

Use of incorrect tools for the job
Use of random plumbing materials
Excessive and if possible clumsy use of a dremmel (you can sub this for a drill if you don’t own a dremmel)
Use of tools you are not trained or qualified to use
Use of improper and incorrect fixings

These are obviously core skills which I tried to use where possible

In my project I have also added
Improper and excessive use of electrical tape
Generally not thinking ahead and planning

So what was my project you say?

Well I replaced my TRD filter with a K&N Apollo! you might now wonder where i fitted in some of the core skills in what seems like an easy job?
Well i went one step further and added a plumbing solution to use my now redundant roof scoop as the air intake. I am obviously very pleased with the job and might even consider taking the design to the patent office and the to the Dragons Den. I will post pictures soon, but I am obviously concerned about the patenet aspects of posting the design up

So have I passed? Or have I “Flat” out failed?
(yes that is also part of the course criteria to get in "Flat comments when possible)

you missed using the most universal tool of all > bloody big hammer

I think that comes in the advanced course, we have to be trusted with basic hand tools before you can move on to precision equipment

Well after close scrutiny of the law (first paragraph on wikipedia) i realised I can obviously gain full IP right to the design just by posting pictures here.

so here it is…

Talking of pictures, here’s my view :

Glol have you fitted a tumble dryer in your car?

In the best tradition I used things that were just laying around the garage for mocking up, I think there is potential in what I am trying so now I am going to do some measuring up and get some silicone hoses and replace the electrical tape with something much more suitable “gaffa” tape.
just thought the write up would make a few smile the S2 forum has been a little serious lately

Top man, keep us updated

What is it? Looks a little “Blue Peter” to me. But undoubtedly better than anything I could knock up.

hahahahahaahaha

Love it Ade!!

Oh the horror…Ade why would you add soooo much weight to your Exige…

Would look better in carbon .

What are you saying…

So far it appear I have passed my practical exam, I am so pleased

The 2 of you must be pleased with you schooling and exam?

part of my plan, I must try to learn how to make carbon fiber, so far I think I have the correct stuff to make it.

  1. Carbon paper from Staples
  2. Pot of Bostik

I have purchased the paper shredder (I am not allowed sharp things like scissors) to cut the lengths, then glue with bostik and stick them in the over at home to cure in a suitable mold?

Any other tips?

Keep watching “Blue Peter”.

So who was bitsy ?

Clearly you need to think a little deeper here matey! Its called carbon fiber and you have only got carbon and glue…

So now you need fiber, a quick google suggests a good scource of fiber is All Bran so I would buy a packet and add that along with the carbon paper and glue.
How hard can it be? just be careful of F1 grade stuff as we have proven it does not work on an exige.

I have also been busy ,put a RS200 intercooler scoop on my car .

Well on my phone on my car
