295 for Donnington !!!
I’ve booked Sunday 6th July for 145 - OK it’s sessioned but 7 sessions in a day is all I can handle
How do they justify 295 ?
Bookatrack don’t set “the price” as such, the track does.
Then it’s up to the organiser to work out how they’re going to cover their fee… either as a sessioned day, get loads of people in, or have fewer people going and have it open-pit.
Personally I won’t do another sessioned day again, they’re a right royal pain in the bum. But you pays your money, you takes your pick.
Stopped sessions + minor repairs can turn your 7x 20 minute sessions into 5x 20 minutes and that works out alot more per hour than open pit-lane.

My experience - albeit with other trackday organisers is that you only get 10-20 more cars total on a sessioned day that OPL. Most circuits restrict the number of cars on track at one time so I have sat in pitlanes for 15mins waiting for cars to come off. At least on sessioned days when its time to go out you don’t have to wait.
My last sessioned day at Donnington had a max of 70 cars.
So by my maths 70 cars X 145 = 10150 revenue.
So 10150 divided by 295 = 34 cars.
If there were only 34 cars total on a OPL day I would consider paying 295 but how many will Bookatrack allow ?
I will keep an eye on the driver lists/numbers and decide nearer the time

“Your day” is being run by the circuit itself (ie Trackzone), hence the apparent cheap price.
Unless things have changed in the last couple of years, Donington charge other trackday organisers 12.5K plus vat (maybe more for a summer Saturday) to hire the circuit. I’ll leave you to do the maths, assuming that the TDO also needs to pay its overheads & make a profit.
PS Trackzone days have a reputation for being “interesting” too, hence you don’t get many from here doing them
I hear what you’re saying about queues… which is why I recommend Bookatrack
As per their website: “Don’t forget that BookaTrack are the only company to guarantee no queues - or your money back!”
Can’t say fairer than that !
I’ve been to sessioned days in the past, some guy has binned it in the gravel in the first few minutes… out goes the recovery truck… and that’s your session done for another hour…
Personally, in the morning, I like to put in a 5 minute session to warm things up, make sure everything is OK, come into the pits check everything over, then go out again…
Also, places like Donington are as green as hell first thing in the morning, and I get most of my track time in after lunch.
And… I like to give people passenger rides… maybe only 10 minutes at a time to give everyone a go.
In a sessioned day, drivers are compelled to make full use of their 20 minutes by driving non-stop… which in turns makes for more accidents and shortened sessions.
YMMV, but that’s my take on it.

Known to many as “Crashzone”
Thanks all for the views - will def take on board
Most of mine (nearly all in fact) are with BookaTrack mate.
I went to Donny a couple of weeks back with Bookatrack and it was superb.
Agree with the comments about open pit lane vs sessions too.
