Bonding on the front oversills

I decided to remove the front clam on my S1 as the tow post is looking rusty and I was expecting a feast of rust. Two hours later and it’s off, never done it before.

The bolts that fix the outer “wings” of the front clam sheared off the front oversills. I now have the oversills off and need to remove the captive nuts that Lotus glued into place with a splodge of gloop. Anyone done this and if so how, prising, sawing, grinding? I don’t want to damage the oversills.

Good news it that apart from the tow post, headlamp brackets and fog light brackets it’s all in excellent order. Oil cooler is like new, even the aircon rad is like new (but does not work). It’s a alloy capped radiator so I’m not the first to go there. Jabbs, did you have the front off?

I drilled and re-tappped the glooped up captive nuts

The hours of my life I have wasted drilling out Lotus ‘economy fixings’

Wood work chisel did the job.
