Blyton Trackday - Javalin

Doing a trackday this Saturday (NYLOC organised - thankyou guys) at Blyton in Lincs - totally new track - I will report

There’s an article about Blyton in the latest issue of Track Driver magazine - sounds interesting, but a bit far for me :tired:

It looks very narrow to me so I’ll be interested in your report. It would be local(ish) for me and maybe the Exige would get past a noise test!

Did I read somewhere that Javelin run their days at Blyton with overtaking “on the right”, because track direction is anti- clockwise?

Wouldn’t fancy that myself, tbh

At Castle Combe overtaking is on the right and it runs clockwise, never seems to be a problem, they say it’s safer on that track, seems to work, good old fashioned race circuit, very quick although a little bumpy, great track, one of my favourites.

What a super cicuit - really enjoyed it - there were about 25 Lotus on track today with about the same number of other cars inc a V8 Atom which although rather brisk in a straight line is not so brisk through the bends  - excellent organisation

Track at first appears rather narrow, but after a few laps it does not appear so

Surface is very grippy but hardly any tyre wear at end of the day (maybe I wasn’t trying hard enough )

Some really technical sections - no long straights which is good for the VHPD

All in all great to have another circuit to drive on

Recommended

Cool, Thanks for that Simon, will have to make the effort to get there sometime - possible venue for Exiges annual TD, make a change from Anglesey?

I went to Blyton yesterday to spectate. It is indeed a cracking little track (with good facilities & a friendly attitude), but it certainly is not a race circuit.(However it’s only 125 for an OPL day, & I believe discount is available for a “club booking”). It’s pretty narrow, 1.6 miles in length, & got quite busy with 15 cars out at once. Would make a good sprint venue imho running 2 cars on track at a time. It is well worth a visit, & deserves to be a success.

There was not a V8 Atom there, Simon me old fruit - all 3 of them were Honda powered, & the “quick” one was supercharged, & running on slicks

In an ideal world Alex, Donington would be the perfect venue for the Exiges TD (as it was in the past), but weekend availability of “noisy days” now precludes it :frowning: … unless Mr Leroux can wave his magic wand for us!

lol  - never could count  - it was bloody fast though - it was pulling indecent bhp tho’ - I would reckon 450bhp plus?

Si, it might have been fast, it may have had mega bhp (I’ve no idea), but I’d be pi$$ed off if I found one!

PS Really enjoyed our chat/laugh yesterday afternoon - it’s brill being old!   (US Cousin Frank told me about the last bit! )

Yep great to have a good chin wag yesterday me ol’ mate  - feck me its over 8 years since we first met  - time flies when you are enjoying yourself

Great when its a track get together full of enthusiasts

Sounds good!

I’m not an Atom fan either

Had a passenger ride in a hire one at Rockingham a few years ago. One of the hire companies had that and a Renault Spider available. My mate picked the Atom & I picked the Spider - I definitely got the better car.

The Atom just could not turn in and the arrangement with the two seats being a single moulding was a joke.

The atom running slicks is, if all goes well going to be mine ha, I was the guy with the really bright green helmet haha

I’d rather stick to driving your John Deere, rather than those 2 ladders welded together

Sorry James - just not for me, but good luck, & enjoy it if that’s what floats yer boat
