Had a long chat with the chaps on the Bloodhound land speed car stand.
Mega interesting and when he said ‘slow speed running we will use standard type brakes’, I asked what did slow mean
The reply was under 250mph!!!
The first few runs will be upto about 850mph (a new record anyway) to check the car over and do multiple runs increasing speed each time
Actual target is 1050mph
I think this may have a little more go than Franks car (but only just!!!)
They also told me that the supplier of the suspension shock absobers will be NITRON.
Apparently Nitron have been a technical partner for some time now
They actually had the fuel pump on display.
It had a bore of about 100-120mm and was about the size of a Lotus/toyota gearbox.
Very very nice machined billet alloy casing and it will deliver in excess of 450kgs of fuel per minute.
They plan to use an old dried up lake in South Africa.
its some 24km long (15 miles or so)
So with a flat out speed of over 1000mph thats something like 3.5 seconds to cover a mile or just under a minute to go from one end to the other. Gald im not paying the fuel bill.

Do we know how many fuel pumps its running Dave? [/quote]
Apparently they have a technical adviser in the USA and he says it only needs one!!
Same reason some people climb mountains, jump out of planes, bungee, the list of odd things people do is endless, and all comes down to ‘beacause they can/want to’
This is much like Buckaroo Banzai just plain dumb… Oscillation Overthruster!
Now drive that sucker through a mountain in Texas and we can talk about it…

Bit like going to the moon!!!
I suspect more people will like high speed, Look at all the modifed cars…

I can see we are all using products developed from the US tax payers moon trips…The new Apollo hot tub was a big seller…
Cars not rockets…and what brain dead fool wants to go climb a mountain and maybe die doing it…Thinning of the herd I say, when goats look at you and say where the hell is this fool going you’ve gone too far…
Totally agree that some sort of internal combustion engine, driving the wheels is far more relavent. Watched the Fastest Indian yesterday, now he was a true eccentric!!
However, it wasn’t us that fitted a jet engine to power it first. Some foreign guy started all that, Craig something, from, you know, ‘over there’
