The day will come when a standard car will be a £100k thing. I bet that day is closer than we might expect. Look at the way some Porsches have gone. I remember chatting to a guy about ten years ago who had just given £25k for a 964 RS he wondered if he had paid too much, as that was the top of the market at the time. A quick look on eBay has that car at about £140k now!!!
A crazy Frenchman offered crazy money for mine a few years back He’d been following my rebuild thread and kept offering me increasing offers I couldn’t refuse (and foolishly did). Final offer was somewhere around the £80k mark… and while the head said to sell, the heart couldn’t bear it, and with all I spent on it in time and money, I just couldn’t do it. I said he could ship me another one and I’d do it the same as mine, but he just really wanted my one. Last I heard was he bought one and was taking it to LHD and was going to restore it to top notch condition.
That’s pretty amazing…proof that its always worth what someone is prepared to pay.
