As some of you may recall, I’ve had trouble with my engine, an annoying, difficult to recreate fault that only happen on track, triggering the 5500rpm limiter.
Well it may well be fixed now!
HUGE thank yous and gratitude are due to all who helped. Including:
Mr Turner for some bits I needed (Eliseparts too for providing exactly what and when they said they would), and not to mention (although I am about to) Benja for parts left over from his conversion.
Sean for some proficient and calm spanner work (not to mention spare bolts!). You are a top bloke sir!
Edwardz and Andy D for advice and support.
Plans for trying to recreate/prove the fix in a professional, considered and friendly manner. They’ve got a great set-up there if you haven’t been.
And talking of support the likes of Pesky and all inquired after me.
Anybody else I’ve missed (sorry )
I know nobody did it to be publicly thanked but thanks all the same I’m very grateful (whether it’s really fixed or not, I guess we’ll see at Cadwell).
Mine has an issue currently with the vacuum hose that sits in front of the fuel rail (rubber hose with plastic ‘T’ pieces…the plastic has gone all brittle with heat and snapped) - might be worth checking that if you haven’t already.
Anyone know the correct name for what I’m describing above ?
I didn’t even stick to the lines of the TG track. I was after using the bends to get max revs out of each to try and recreate the problem. It was dry, a lovely day in Surrey.
Was interesting to see the track though, far less glamorous than on the tele (where it looks oh so glamorous!). A deft bit of braking in to the right (after the initial left) of Hammerhead had me holding a huge slide most of the way round it (John of Plans jumped out after that for some reason ).
We changed the wheel speed sensor, including the plug (which was looking ‘well mank’). Then cleaned the leads and tightened a few things up.
The reason I’m not absolutely confident we got it is that we tried the cleaning at Bedford, which I’d have though might have got some life back in to a dodgy connection, only for it to recreate the problem moments later.
The strange rubbing sound didn’t appear yesterday either and we checked all the bearings were all right, so I’ve got a spare set of those for when they’re actually needed.
