Big bun fight.... Lotus 260 map

True , im going back essex this year to tune my gotham map and see how far i can go with a good intercooler and new injectors/pump/pulley change .

I’m begining the listen to my wife for the first time in fourty years when she says to just let it go… quote wifey: “If the fools know better fck em, after all why bother.”…

Classic !
It,s been a great thread tho…
Thanks for all the input.
Has certainly entertained me.
C,mon tho Frank … we,re close to the 30 page threshold. A few more will crack it !

I,m off to Essex
Was going anyway as soon as my smaller pulley arrives.(MAYBE)

So what’s the outcome of all this ?

Tic…tic…tic…Boom .

The very first post in this thread was my quest to find out if adding a 2bular manifold would alter my AFR,s and make my car run leaner.

In my experience it didn’t … Mission accomplished.

All the other banter is about a different matter of how better to further tune the motor .

Case closed !
Or is it ??

I think Pandora’s box has been opened - knew a girl called Pandora but never saw her box !!!

We also know that you should not use a leaf blower for anything other than blowing leaves as they toast intercoolers and there is no way I am trying one on my ball’s.
Looking on the bright side they have still not posted the video of me giving my car a blow job.

It appears that with an exhaust tip based probe, the AFRs seem no worse than the standard 260 map, however the standard 260 map does seem a bit borderline for constant track use on a hot summer day. I certainly would want to see it a bit richer, but it might have to be like that or emmision reasons.
Caveat: All my own opinion and I do [color:#FF0000]not[/color] condone the use of leaf blowers while driving!

Sorry Boothy, but i knew you did really want to see it!

Plus there cant be too many entries on utube that have both lotus exige and leaf blower in the title, LOL.

Knew you could’nt pull mate!

That blower looks a bit fisher price , what you want is a Shindaiwa

How many 2-11 260 engines have gone bang on track under load?

I know Lotus had issues with the GT3 engines (270) not lasting more than five minutes.

The Lotus 270 remap also included a 3.1" pulley to give you the other 10hp, maybe along with the need to meet emissions the slightly lean mixture was just too much? :frowning:

I think the GT3 engines had a lot more issues than just the mapping.

And a lot more to them than just a map and pulley!!!

I was talking about the 270 map not the GT3 cars, my mistake…

I have emailed the factory today Andy French reply to my question of the 260 Cup ECU lean/weak AFR

With regards to the Exige 260 ECU programmes, all our dealers are kept up to date with the latest level of software, if there is an update available they will be notified through our dealer portal/techcentre. The dealer network has access to 08 my onwards 260 cals. Any thing pre 08my is programmed here at Lotus. In my experience I have not come across any Exige 260 suffering from your below concern. If you have a specific concern with your Exige I would suggest that you seek some professional advice from you Lotus dealer who will be able to help you.

Regards

Andy French

Excellent stuff …
Straight from the horses mouth.
I do believe there are different 260 maps out there having seen 3 cars back to back on the dyno …
Hence us 3 getting scanned shortly at cn,s
We WANT Marks map !!! … much richer bottom end …

Nice bit of info Darryl.

If anyone benefits from this thread ,then its all been worthwhile .

Which 260 map do you all think you have? Exige?
I have a 2-11 260 map for a pre 2008 2-11 that was brought out for the racers when the 2008 2-11/260 came out.
Its mapped to run without a post cat lambda and is intended for circuit use. Once the car is up and running I will do some AFR tests of my own and post here!!
