Mine was the only Lotus there, but what an amazing collection of cars.
The Pagani Zonda F is beautiful. A real work of art. Even the pedals were like a sculpture. Mind you, at £500,000 it ought to be.
The F1 Heron was a little beauty and I had a fantastic chase and play with it round Brands for 3-4 laps. The F1 Benetton was rather too quick for the Lotus to keep up with, but I tried…as it vanished into the distance
I’ve lots of video, but it needs editing. I had 3 cameras on my car
And yes, the Lotus was quicker than the Zonda F and McLaren… and various Ferraris etc. Mind you, the exotics did have the disadvantage of their power being reduced on the day…by having air con running
More likely though, perhaps the Zonda and McLaren drivers didn’t know the track too well.
The little Caterham was just as quick as my Lotus though
A great day and a great bunch of guys there
The Lotus was simply awesome compared to the other road cars there… I just love it And so much fun, as usual
I will post up the footage, but could take me a bit of time
The day was a charity day in aid of injured soldiers.
Ade, it was not generally mixed open & closed wheel. But I did get a 15 minute session with the 2 F1 cars - well mostly the Heron, as the Benetton developed a fuel fault. I’ve not looked at the video yet, but will do at the weekend and it should be fun to watch
Some good news and some bad regarding the video. I’ve transferred it to PC, and have yet to view it, but did take a few sneak peeks.
I’ve mentioned elsewhere that a passenger headbutted my front LCD screen accidentally, causing it to detach and hang from the windscreen. That doesn’t matter, as it is not for recording - only for my rear view camera. What I hadn’t spotted though was that my very first passenger of the day had knocked my internal front SmartyCam too
It was therefore loose, so although I checked it and lined it up a number of times during the day, it promptly pointed downwards as soon as I accelerated off each session
So, no footage from it other than it filmed my dash and a few soldiers’ hands
It did log the ECU, GPS and other data though, so I know for example that I pulled 1.5G laterally regularly on a random lap I checked Not bad in a road car
My front GoPro worked though And I did get footage of the F1 cars. I will also have rear camera GoPro footage from the camera I borrowed for that session from a friend soon (he is now away on holiday).
I will view it at the weekend and put up a few short clips for now, until I get some proper edited footage
A quick edit using just the footage from 1 camera - my front GoPro. I will have better footage, using the rear GoPro footage edited in too, but that will be some weeks yet.
