What do you guys recommend as an upgrade to the standard Biltien suspension on an Exige S.
I was considering the 46mm Ohlins v’s Nitrons but ave no experience of either.
My car is for the road with some track usuage, (The Ring booked for summer).
Thanks

either or
you will have 50% say Ohlins46mm
and 50% say Nitrons
Does not matter imho
what matters is how you set them up and your geo afterwards.

I am looking into this for my new car in March.
I am considering some Moton 3-way and have the option of a manufacturer developing a new 2-way kit to then sell in the UK.
Ohlin’s and Nitron’s tend to be the popular choice, so I think its time for something new in the market.

Markets too small imo for a company to invest the time into it.
Most people just buy single way Nitrons any way.
very few buy 46MM OHlins or 3 way Nitrons.
Hi Kev
Just made the change myself.
Looked at these options - Nitrons, Ohlins 36 & 46.
Went with 36 Ohlins in the end. The Nitrons looked good but a few posts on various websites mentioned rebuilds.
Couldn’t be doing with that.
Ohlins 46 would have been great but could not justify the additional cost over the 36 's.
Have done one trackday after the upgrade & although wet the ability to perform adjustments was a real benefit.
Overall the car felt more balanced & with the decrease in ride height a lot sharper.
As a general comment Lotus fit the 36 Ohlins as standard on the recent special edition cars - 240r S GT etc.

I consider that facility to be an an advantage

You need to indicate in which part of the UK you reside

You can rebuild Ohlins as well
Hi Mr Pesky
Hadn’t looked at it that way

Hi Kev
I had mine fitted in Dery by ETS. Probably not an obvious choice for Lotus setup/geo but they have some really modern alignment kit.
They will perform a full setup & geo based on whatever you want. I just took along the dampers & the setup advice I took off Exiges.com & they just did it.
Labour cost is good @ 30.00 per hour + VAT.
Full Geo (which took about 3hrs) costs around 100.00 + VAT.
I had the new dampers fitted & the AP Racing Big Brake Kit
plus full setup for just over 300 inc VAT.
Lotus quoted anything between 500 - 800
If you are interested the managers name is Jim & Andy is the man for setup. Tell them Chris with the Exige GT sent you.

fit them yourself takes less than 1 hour for all 4 very very easy
then take it to northamton motorsport for a geo.

Ohlins will also need occasional rebuilds. The 46mm is a much better product than the 36mm’s.

I realise it will be pretty easy, as I’ve fitted suspension to cars before including coilovers, but I’m lazy…

I thought that
but it is so easy its untrue
Dont get ripped off with 4/8 hour installs on easy stuff
plus its good to know the basics when things go wrong

More important is the settings, spring rates and geo.
