Ok thanks. I’ve got a shortlist of 2 now…Sealey or Draper, which are the best manufacturer?
I have to say that I don’t think either of them are premium grade manufacturers. Both make tools to a price.
I may be a bit of a tool snob, but having used snap on - mostly not mine , I know the value of using tools that really do do the job.
Tools are a real investment and when looked after should not just last you a lifetime, but could be passed to the next generation. Don’t buy cheap…generally speaking you get what you pay for. Ebay always has second hand snap on items up for auction and you can, from time to time, get some great buys.
How about this one Steve…> www.tool-catalogue.co.uk > click onto special offers and its the Draper combo 78444 for 280ish, was 700!
Don’t want to put a downer on what should be an enjoyable purchase, but, that kit is never worth 700 - could probably get it down the market stall for less.
The roller cabinet and tool boxes might be good value…
If only I could stretch to Snap-On!
But you can…that’s my point. Tools should be aquired over a lifetime. Start with the few you really need and buy additions as and when you can afford to.
When people ask you what you want for your b’day or Xmas quote the part no of a snap on tool and give them the link to the website!
Personally I wouldn’t spend too much on the chest. I’ve had some from Machine Mart for a few years now and they still look very new. I’ve got the following:- Top Chest Step Up Bottom Chest
And then buy decent tools, mine are mostly from Facom as opposed to Snap-On.
Im with the Snap On boys here. They are very good quality and you only have to buy them once. Plus on EBay, Snap on stuff normally goes for between 75 - 90% on the new price, so you don’t loose much money on it if you decide to sell up.
