Best place for tyres.......apart from Camskill?

Just wondered if anyone had recently found a decent track day tyre supplier or one that has special offers on, etc apart from Camskill? Only ask as 600 delivered for 4 Kumho V70’s seems steep.

TA

Bookatrack, Eliseparts, Micheldever Tyres…

thnx…will give them a try. In the meantime if anyone gets a good deal elsewhere pls spill the beans.

tyretraders do a complete set of R888 delivered for 517

I bought my v70s from Tony at Blackpool south shore Tyres. I think they were about 550 fitted. He fitted them at Oulton while he was doing tyre support for an event. Excellent service and great advice on compounds.

Did you go for mediums all round?

Out of interest why the V70, over 888 or AO48?

I went for k60 medium all round. Good for about 3k miles on the road and exceptional on wet surfaces apart from standing water.

I did 1500 miles round Scotland, half a rally and a full trackday at Angelsey on one set. The grip was amazing at their end if life however they are now properly trashed. Being a Yorkshire man it’s important to get every bit of rubber off them

Adams & Page, High Wycombe, every time, speak to Stuart 01494 445389, they do all the support for the elise trophy

I’ve got some early season track days coming up where I’d hazard a guess that the track will damp/cold. A set of medium v70s cover all bases with better wet grip and in medium compound as good as the usual harder compound 888’s in the dry.

Whitey, where & when are the trackdays you’ve got planned?

So far just brands on the 1st and again on the 25th Feb. Both full days and with open pit. I’m going to try and squeeze in some days at tracks in France before the summer too as I’m over there on business a lot.

Scoob - thanks for supplier details, rang them and they can only get Toyo R1R’s. He’s going to let me know a price today and who knows, I might go for these instead of the kumho’s…still cant decide between them and the Kumho’s.

wesj111 - cheers for your comments. 3k miles is a bit short so might go for the hards and just spend do another lap or 2 warming them up.

Whteysback, did yo ask Stuart about A408’s. He always does me a cracking price, plus get him to fit his stubby race valves. As said he does all the tyres and support for the elise trophy and knows what he is talking about.

So far my track days are all early on in the year - Feb, March and April so I thought a track tyre more capable of wet and dry weather would be ideal hence not looking at another set of A048’s till the summer.

In that case you could do worse than the R1R’s
Supposed to be very very good in cooler temps. or wet but not so good when track temps. are hot

Yeah…after some more research into temps and wet tracks (and tyre wear) I’m going for the R1R’s, 540 delivered from Stuart.

Our tyre stocks are low at the moment but once the track season starts we’ll build it up again. We generally always have R888,. R1R and AO48R on the shelf. We supply Eliseparts with their tyres so I can put together a deal for here if someone wants to come up with a way that I can restrict it to bonafide forum users only and tell me what prices we have to beat. AO48R are a fixed price but we can probably do something with R888 and R1R that is competitive.

Any tyres that we fit at our workshop comes with a geo report as part of the service.

Update…tyres now ordered from Stephen at Track-Club.

Same prices as other suppliers but with the added bonus of getting them heat cycled on their metal mickey fancy bit of kit before fitting. Popping up their next week for the R1R’s and the Accusump fitting.

Thanks for posting Stephen.
