Clues in the title - anyone bought any rear A048’s recently
There’s a thread on SELOC so before all the Toyo lovers scream 888’s, apparently Camskill are out of stock until March so I’ll have to stick with 48’s.
Can’t believe I need rears - only done 2K on them and no real track day thrashing. Read somewhere that due to the increased structural ridgity of the Cup shear panel rear tyre wear is dramatically increased (fook me I needed a tyrannasaurus to check the spelling )
Let that be a warning to anyone thinking of getting the Cup shear panel
we have plenty in stock, I have more arriving on Monday or Tuesday and we are going to do an offer on stocks of LTS. what sort of prices have people paid Camskill?
last year I got told by two companies there were no 888’s for love nor money, but a trip to JSR and a full set was with them in a couple of days, it just proves its not what you know its who you know
Chris :- I ran 048’s front and 888’s rear for a while and its actually not that bad so I would personally have the use out of the 48’s front im assuming if it was me.
To be honest, I’ve given up with mail order - Often cheaper to go directly to Lotus themselves and they’ll also fit free of charge (Think rears were �170each fitted from memory)
Alternatively, go to Adams and Page and go for the A048 MH compund tyre (95% the same tyre). I have run M compound a few times on the rear (Lts on front) and they do have more grip, but will wear faster!
If anyone wants LTS (we only use M compound) then I have 8 sets of AO48R LTS to be offloaded at �625 per set inc VAT and delivery or fitting if you come to PE28 0NJ (or any Gold Track, RMA or The-Racing-Line track day).
We can do R888’s at �525 inc VAT and fitting so for the sake of a few quid we’ll match Camskill and do at �522
I tend ot agree on the mail order front, we try not to bother with it but we’ll send if people really want them. I’d rather fit and we always include a geo check when we fit a full set of tyres.
We can heat cycle and nitrogen fill for those who want it.
Also looking for a set of 48’s for rears if anyone has found a good price on them. will be swapping out to ad08’s as soon as they become available, for road use of course
So what was the outcome of this, what was the best price/availabilty that you chaps had found. Really should replace mine as I’m now wearing down the wear markers
Eliseparts etc are �798 per set, I have a couple of sets of AO48R LTS left at �650 including fitting or shipping. We normally only deal with M compound so when these are gone they are gone. Don’t message me via the forum, use the details below.
Just to add, I mailed Stephen and he promptly sent over a set of 48’s. I would use Stephen/TD again no problem. Good price including fitting if you are close to their garage (which I sadly don’t!).
You guys still doing the fitting at gold track days?
My A048s on the rear have got about a days left in them, but if I could finish them off there and not have the stress of driving back on bald, that’d be great.
Sorry for delay, been a bit manic. Some idiot thought that it would be a good idea to run 13 cars at the Lotus Snetterton weekend.
Bottom line is yes, we attend all Gold Track events including Spa so we have full tyre fitting capability as well as brake pads, discs, fluid changes etc.
We offer the same service at all RMA and Racing Line Track days;
If anyone here wants to book any of those days then we can generally either get you a discount or a free garage etc. Ideally book tyres and brakes in advance if you think you will need them but no need to have them fitted if you end up not ready e.g. it’s a wet day and your tyres live to fight on. We’ll just hold them for you until you need them.
