been to see the most famous exige in the land!!

following all the hulabalou recently regarding the s1 exige belonging to jeff i decided to pay the man a visit and decide myself whether his car deserved the reputation it had.
so this morning i jumped in the car and headed for newcastle.
he was very friendly and welcoming,i’d told him over a phone call that i was only going to be viewing the car and i wasnt in a position to purchase.
anyway he let me look around the car at my leisure,we spoke about the car and he told he about some of the imperfections etc he also took he out for a drive and showed he some of what it was capable of!!now i really want one!!
all in all he was very open about everything.
the car itself looked in good condition, not perfect but as you all know its priced at 16k so i’m sure you’d expect a little bit of wear and tear.
we spoke a little about whats been goin on in the forum as regards to his car.
jeff would like to have his say but for some reason he isnt able to log on to the site despite trying.
i will be happy to offer him my user name to make a post in reply to everything that has been said on the forum.
contary to some peoples suggestions he doesnt want to batter either nath or bertone…though you should see the size of his lawyers
i personally have made a couple of comments regarding this car and i was up front with him about what i said.
IIRC i stated that i didnt like the interior…which looking at today…although its slighty tatty in places the red doesnt look that bad.definately not as bright as in photos.
i believe i also thought the car may not be in great shape mechanically though i’m no expert it did sound ok but if i was going to seriously consider buyin the car i’d take a mechanic with me
every communication i’ve had with jeff->email,phone and in person has been greathes a friendly guy and seems to be very up front and open.
thanks for all your help today jeff
if anyone else has reservations regarding cars for sale maybe they should consider looking at the car in question before saying anything.
i’m not having a go at anyone but i know if i was in jeff’s position i’d be pretty pissed off as well.
everyone is entitled to their own opinion but sometimes on a forum it may come across as gossip

Dean

You drove all the way to Newcaastle to look at a brief you were not going to buy? You`re a mentalist! Mine is for sale now at 23k if you fancy it…

So the bottom line is… not in great shape mechanically, slightly tatty interior, the rest of it is in good comdition but not perfect and showing some wear and tear.

Coo Coo!
Sack driving all that way to look at a car you had no intention in buying. I don’t see the point. Each to their own!

I have to say, if someone told me on the phone that they wanted to view my car but had no intention of purchasing I would tell them “thanks, but no thanks”.

Glad you enjoyed the drive, though.

Not going to coment on the car , but I think Dean just wanted a trip to the best city in the world

1st and last post, the car is mechanically perfect, ive just paid for a “c” service, and its just been moted. i will have the car at croft 2nd sept at the lot trackday. for all to see. i wont be driving it and it will be unlocked . please help yourselves, im driving another car.
i did get a little pee’ed off being commented on by (anonymous) people who know nothing about me, especially fellow geordies (apologies accepted and thank you).anyway im off to buy a lada now, the owners club forum is ace. they can say all they want about me i cant read russian

yes i can see why some of you may think that its crazy to drive all that way for a car that i’m not going to buy,but as you know s1 exiges are extremely rare and this was the closest one to me.
also,i want to do as much research as possible before commiting to buying a car so that in the end i get one that i am happy with.
evosal…if you read my post what i said(or maybe meant…sorry if i wasnt clear)was that i had made a couple of comments regarding the car,i had thought that maybe it wasnt in great mechanical shape.i said this on the basis of maybe why it hadnt sold not through fact.
however i’m no mechanical expert but i thought the car sounded ok,however if i was going to seriously look at purchasing the car i would take someone who either knows the exige s1 or is mechanically minded just to be on the safe side.

jj-> as much as i like the flag-mobile i dont want to rip all my jeans on it like you seem to do!! why you selling up anyway?s1?

nath…i didnt really get a chance to look around your fine city…had to head up home.
i’ll be down on the 11th sept to see friends

Dean

Nice one Jeff - your sense of humour would fit in well here, so further posts will be welcome
