Bedford today

was anyone else there? Didn’t really chat to anyone, we arrived late so just drove as much as poss.

seemed a pretty novice day and mainly elises but epic weather for 2nd Feb,

Good to hear you enjoyed your day :sunglasses:

How was the noise limit with the uber silencer. And not so uber number plate mounts!!

I meant to let you know mate but i’m on an old phone with no numbers, 90db static @5500rpm, i’ll have a dig and see how much that’s improved and for drive by we ramped it up over the day until we were redlining by the meters without any problems. No noise warnings and the pit marshall said there was no comment on us all day… til the end when the wind picked up and 3 cars including us got flagged off in one lap.

i’m not really worried about that, we were below 86.5dB all day up til then, unfortunately we were at 8000rpm off line on the left of the track next to the noise meter after the pitlane hairpin, not a problem before but with strong winds blowing right to left it read us at 87.9dB and brought on the flag, not really fussed about that - we were done for the day, i’d be happy taking a better line and upshifting half a second earlier and tbf it was the freakish wind of the north that did us. The silencer’s class i’ll have to let Jim know, i reckon he’s got a product there.

of more concern the engine warning light came on again and took 20mins to go off as last time, also the car turned itself off at 30mph coasting to a roundabout, i’ll email Essex in the morning and see if they’ll check the map and increase the idle back to 1k.

The plate fixing was genius, got us there n back all good man thanks!

Getting confused here with the Essex idle issue …
Seems to crop up too often to be coincidence
If there’s a genuine problem ,it would be good to clear it up .

personally i think it’s the idle, they’ve lowered it from 1k to 800rpm presumably because the engine mounts make the cabin resonate at 1k, but the idle moves around a bit so sometimes 800 ends up being 600 and the engine stalls, that;s what i think anyway, sometimes u can catch it and rev the engine but if the radio’s on i don’t hear the revs drop

my car did it from new, the dealers never fixed it :frowning:
as I have said before, it goes away whenever I fit a new filter, it is like it needs a more free flowing amount of air at idle, then gradually it goes back to stalling sometimes, really annoying :frowning:

on mine the filter was new when it was remappped

The other par to remember is they actually only map the full\nearly full throttle closed loop part of the map, the idle control etc is still just run by the normal lotus map, with some changes due to larger injectors etc. The biggest issue I see is the electronic throttle body, I am definitely going to get mine cleaned when it gets back from it’s nip and tuck holiday
