Bedford Autodrome 11th February

Any one going next Wednesday…

It would be nice to have another Exige to ‘play’ with…

They seem a bit ‘tough’ about noise limits - any info or experiences?

Very flat track, plenty of run off (in most areas), i have only been on the GT circuit a couple of times but its great fun

They are strict on noise, both static and drive by but with the side exit you should be ok.

Uncle Mike

Try & blag a drive in one of the good doctor’s JP1s

Have fun

JP1 - 100 quid for 4 laps…

However, suppose I get through three laps and then just do donuts till it runs out of petrol ??

Watch my lips - I said “blag” not pay for!!!

Could you lend me your pension book, dad??

They might let me have a go for nowt, then !!

Pretend you’re interested in buying one from all the remaining redundancy money!

I’m there on the 14th with SELOC and believe that the full circuit(GT) is not available due to building works…there’s a post on SELOC about it.

Noise is a funny one, last time there no one checked static level but time before they tested everyone and I failed the static but got allowed on circuit and told to be careful past the drive by!

Glad I made you smile!

Not being one to leave a decent effort unappreciated, how long did that take to balance out the number of grins so they all fitted neatly on to three lines??!

Some info on current situation at Bedford.

I did the day with RMA on the 31st, well, to say I did the day isn’t quite correct. Static noise check at 4500rpm was 104dB (101dB is limit), was allowed on and after the warm up lap was black flagged due to being VERY over the limit apparantly.
The car has a Janspeed SS (but quite old I think) and a Motobuild silenced Cat pipe (or waste of money as I now call it.) I have subsequently fitted Geary’s silenced Cat pipe and visited Bedford on Friday. Static was 100dB, so just passes. Driveby (one of their drivers took it round while I was able to view the monitors) was 86dB so again a close pass. Fingers crossed for the 14th.

Steve, I don’t know when you were there but they never let anyone on without a noise check sticker, and they also now have 4 different drive by check points, on my check only 1 was showing the 86, others were in the low 80’s.

As for circuit configurations. The situation is as Steve mentioned above, they are doing some work on the west circuit (the dodgy corner where the armco is ib front of you just before the main straight for anyone who has been there). It looks like the GT circuit won’t quite be ready in time for the day on the 14th.

Glad I made you smile!

Er Um - I actually typed a few in, then copied and pasted them, then copied and pasted the result, then did that again

It was pure luck I spose

Mark - thanks for the inf…

I have only paid 125, what with it being linked to the circuit driver offer…

If I do fail the noise test it won’t be quite so bad…

Hopefully the side exit will ‘muffle’ things sufficiently. (sorry about the pun)

They are offering a ‘modified’ GT circuit, so I guess that confirms the situation as regards the layout.

I will post a report, hopefully with datalogging traces etc, when I get home

Well here is a belated report…

First thing, I learned how useful a battery pack can be, for a car that travels on a trailer - thanks ‘William’ wherever you now are !!

Secondly, I passed the stationary noise test easily , and so did the Exige

They were using 2.7 miles of circuit made up from the south, north and east circuits, and it made an interesting challenge…

However, I only did three laps before having to stop, due to a cambelt problem

Many thanks to Bernard Scouse who sorted things that same day at short notice

However, by the time we finished it was dark, so I never got back on track

Now I’ve got to book another day there !!!

Mike,

Just got back froma day on the full GT circuit. It wasn’t quite finished but almost, so they let us use it.

New corner is good, as is whole circuit really. Get yourself booked on the SELOC day in April!

Now that’s a good idea
