Getting one of these… Batteries …I think someone recommended it but can’t find who?
Im not sure if this is true but I trust the garage guy.
I had a Red top (same sort of battery) and left my bullet camera plugged in after a track day once and flattened it big time. Took it to the garage so they could charge it and the first thing he said was “oh that will be [censored] then” apparently when the drycell type batteries go flat you cant get them back to life again. Sent it back to Red top and they changed it for a small charge (I made something up at the time about why it was dead)
I know you wouldnt be that stupid to leave your camera running in the car but the immobiliser might flatten it if its not kept on a trickle charger.
Not trying to put you off as the new battery worked with out a problem and the mate that bought the car from me still has the same one some 4 years latter.
Just a word of warning.
I’ve got one Jonny.
I just put the car on trickle charge with the CTEK as a matter of routine and all is well. With the kgs saving IMO.

Good pun
Running flat does indeed kill em.
See it done quite often with microlights … leave the radio switched on and park up etc and a week later on returning to fly the battery is dead … No amount of cycling can revive it
Mind you … most people only make the mistake once ! At 90 odd quid it gets costly …
FWIW : red top seems the battery of choice for microlights.
I’ve got the same battery, had it about a year now. I use a ctek intellegent charger to keep it topped up. It lasts about 8-9 days with the alarm on if you don’t trickle charge it.
Twice though it has gone flat when i hadn’t put the trickle charger on. Once it was totally dead.
Just put a normal charger on it for about half an hour then plugged the trickle charger back in. Been working fine with full capacity since.
I’ve had one about a year too and it’s been fine.
For peace of mind I chose the metal jacket version (suffix MJ)to protect it from stuff in the boot. Weight difference is negligible.
It is worth it and what is the weight difference?
Thats the one i use. Big weight saving and it doesnt leak over the boot on track like the original. As above keep it on trickle.
Metal jacket adds only about 0.5kg, if that was your question…
FYI: Std Bat 11.1kg…Odyssey Bat 680 inc metal jacket (tar) 7.1kg
Seems to be a popular subject currently!!. My battery was completely flat this morning so replacement required. Looking at this battery am not sure how it would fit into EXIGE S where the retaining plate seems to be positioned for the width of the factory fitted battery and also utilises the lug on the base of the battery. Maybe I am missing something or I’m just not being practical enough.
looks like I might need a battery as well, so what is the best way to go? I want less weight but not too much of a performance penalty and easy to fit.
Some peeps stop me if I’m wrong but I do believe you can position this battery on it side, at least in images that I’ve seen it seems to be common place… here So…I’ve found it possible to do the same using the original clamps although I haven’t got to the job of actually fitting it yet so there could be the usual tinkering but nothing to taxing it seems!
Nice car!
TINY brakes?
Small battery!

Would like that better if it also had a bar that came forward and around the front of the battery (the edge with the terminals). If one of the two retaining bolts comes loose what is to stop the battery sliding forward under braking?

I fitted the battery on its side, but couldn’t get the standard clamps to hold it properly. I ended up fabricating a bracket from a joist hanger that I bought at B&Q for a couple of quid.

Bloody handy you are still never getting in a car with you again
Just updating a few threads!

Fit was easy, used original clamps front and back.
