I need to remove the battery tray from my S1 and replace it with a new one but the leaking battery acid has corrodded the fixings making it impossible to tell what they are…are they bolts, screws or rivetts?
never done it myself, and just checking some photos to see which ones you mean…where in relation to this picture are they?

Steve,
is yours a non air-con car ?
This picture looks very different to my air-con car.
My battery tray was only lightly corroded and cleaned up ok.
The tray is fixed with 4 bolts. 3 of the bolts came off dead easy. The 4th both (nearest the drivers side on the bulkhead was a swine which took ages due to the proximity of cables etc.
No quick easy tip here I’m afraid - just make some time in your diary as it took bloody ages to get the final bolt out.

Yes the picture looks nothing like mine…mine has the aircon too1
So are you confirming that its hels in with bolts and not rivetts, and yes I know the problematic one youre on about, looks a right tw@t to get out!!!
yep mine is a non-aircon car - hopefully there is not the difficult bolt here that you both mentioned.
Why do the simplest of jobs on an Exige take ages to carry out…getting the battery out was a nightmare but as for this bloody tray…!
