Battery Question

Have always had my car on a trickle charger, left it off for a week recently and had the click click of a flat battery.

Odd thing is it still shows decent voltage and I’ve charged it via both trickle and by running the car for hundreds of miles but it will only start the car once, or not at all, stick it back on the charger and it is back to ‘full’ in just a few mins, so not really ‘flat’.

Anything else that could be at fault other than a goosed battery?

Yup goosed battery.

I’ve had it came off trickle, it started and ran fine and when I stopped to refuel on the M40, get back in and click click…nooooo! Visit from AA man with a new battery.

Must be the time of year…

Mines gone tonight.

Constant trickle isn’t the best for batteries.
Analogy = battery is like an elbow joint , use the full range and keep it healthy by excercising …
Keep it extended and lose it’s capacity to do it’s job

CTek battery conditioner is your friend.

I have one conditioner and a connecting lead on each of my cars. Never let me down in about 8 years of use. A lot of main dealers do the same with their showroom stock.

I’ve been using an Accumate probably not as sophisticated as the CTek.

Going to not leave it connected all the time now I’ve fitted a new battery, see how that works, old one was the original I believe so not bad to last 8 years!
