I need to get myself a new battery optimiser, I see eliseparts sell the accumate and Elise-shop sell the CTEK XS3600, has anyone tried any of these or are there any other recommendations.
Cheers

I’ve found a 20 jobbie from Halfords perfectly satisfactory. Car is garaged.
Thats the type I currently have, however I wasn’t to keen to leave it connected for 2/3 weeks every time I’m away working, as unlike some optimisers I dont think it actually monitors the charged state of the battery, so wasn’t sure if it would cause more harm than good.
the CTEK XS 800 is what you need
Several posts already up on this subject - try this one web page one of the guys on here actually sells them, so there might be a deal to be had .
I have the 3600 and its far better than anything I previously had from Halfords (sorry Pesky )

No probs Steve. I’ve used the Halfords 20 jobbie for 4 years, & on the same battery, & it’s always hooked up in the UK whilst I’m not using the car. It trickle feeds the battery as required, so if you guys want to spend more, go ahead
It trickle feeds the battery as required
I had a 19.99 jobbie from Halfords but it wasn’t “intelligent” in the sense that it switched on and off as required, rather it was permanently on for weeks at a time. Whilst this is not as bad as having nothing I believe that it’s not the best.
The CTEK units are very “intelligent”!
but why the 3600 ?
the cheaper XS800 was made for the job and is about 27
it just takes longer if you want to charge a flat battery, but then you should not have a flat battery in the first place if you using a xs 800
but why the 3600 ?
because it suitable for batteries up to 120 amp hour; the 800 is only good to 32 amp hour
what you got a lorry battery lol
for maintanance its rated upto 100Ah
It is made for keeping connected to your battery for weeks if needed.
ofcourse a 3600 is a top bit of kit and can bulk charge a much bigger battery, but in my case is just not needed.
Pats pikey Halfords jobbie, which works for me just fine, & without knackering my Duracell

Pesky - read dave’s post above, I think that is the wider issue…

Planning ahead, my dream garage does have oneone of these :
Also, i didn’t like the sound of maintenance mode pushing too much in too quickly; and I would rather have something working at a lower % of its rated capacity.
But we can agree that CTEK is the way to go and Pesky is just plain old-fashioned and wrong

No problem with the old fashioned bit, but why wrong? My unit charges, then sits in “standby mode” until it needs to trickle charge. Over the winter, car is sat in the garage for weeks on end, & the battery has been on now for 3 or 4 years. Cytek unit may well be a “better” one, but I can’t fault mine…so far, anyway. Just curious
PS I have heard a rumour that you are often to be seen mumbling “I want a MAN”.
When you said you had the pikey halfords one I assumed it was the cheapest one they had - the one I had before the CTEK. It definitely did not go into standby mode but just continued to trickle charge. That’s the key thing with the real cheapo ones and leaving them permanently connected.

LOL - got me there
Rob …dont take it personally.

I have the CSi AirFlow which is the jobbie that Lotus brand/branded (I don’t know if they still sell it).
Works well and has kept the battery in tip-top condition when the car has been unused (for my sins) for many weeks.
