Bassetts Honda Trackday - June 7th - Pembrey

We are holding a Track Day at Pembrey Circuit on the 7th June and being an Exige owner would like to invite Exiges.com members to attend. Cost for the day is 120 which is very good value as we are just trying to cover the cost of holding the day.

Would be nice to have a few more Exiges there apart from mine so if you require any further info please pm or drop me a line to <[email protected]>.

Been trying to post for ages, deleted cookies on my profile page and it has finally worked, anyone else experienced that ??

Sorry you’ve had problems Richard, but glad you’ve sorted them out. Welcome!

Have you any more details of the day (eg. sessions/open pit, etc)?

Ian

Hi Ian

Thanks for the welcome, was really frustrating trying to post and not being able to, but sorted now - don’t really know how ??

Track day wise, this is our first foray into holding a track day so advice has been to keep it sessioned and split into three groups depending on machinery, experience etc. Three sessions an hour, hour for lunch, should give everyone plenty of time on track (15 mins per hour) and us a chance to make sure we are doing it right ourselves.

We have a range of cars coming from Honda (as you would expect) through to a 911 GT3 and lots of others in between, so should be a good day.

Most seasoned trackdayers tend to prefer Open Pitlane days. But I can see why you want to run your first one in sessions, as it can be difficult to estimate ideal numbers on Open Pitlane.

One question, how do calculate 15mins per hour, if there’s three sessions an hour?

Ian

20 minutes allocated to each group, 15 minute full on track time with 5 minutes cooling down / paddock turnarounds approx. Hope it makes sense !

We are considering whether to go open pit in the afternoon, depends a lot on the marshalls and circuit for control reasons.

Richard

How many cars do you expect to attend? Depending on the numbers it might be an idea to run sessions in the morning and open pit-lane in the afternoon.

When you run sessions, people always queue up and go out all at the same time, leading to trains of cars all waiting for the slow one at the front to give way, until some pr@ (work it out !) overtakes at the wrong time / place and you have an incident…

That’s why I like open pitlane…

It also allows me time to go in and out and adjust my dampers etc without running out of time…

Good luck, and please put details up here, cos Pembrey is not far from me !!

We are limiting the numbers to 50, which will cover the cost of holding the day.

Cost is only 120.

Three groups will be run and we intend to filter people onto the track to avoid a queue if possible, at present the majority of those who have booked are novice / intermediate so we need some fast movers…

Depending on how it goes we may well run an open pit for the afternoon.

Rich, it’s a good idea to run as sessions and be free to move people about if they’re causing traffic and if everyone is sensible then go to open pit in the afternoon… Always seems to work well and keeps everyone sensible in the morning

IMO, a well run track day can cope fine with an open pit lane.

If everyone has paid attention to the briefing then there shouldn’t be anyone holding anyone up.

I think thats the way we’ll go. Really depends on how everyone behaves in the morning and how many are in each group.

Is anyone interested in coming along as we are starting to fill up pretty fast now, had another two bookings today and being selfish, would love to see some more Exige at the event.

Barman

Many thanks for the invite - sorry I won’t be able to support you, cos too many other things already in the diary eg Mid Engined Series at Snett on 11th June, then off to Le Mans for 1 week from 15th June.

Hope you have a successful event

Thanks Mr Pesky, maybe next time…

Barman - I am interested but the forecast is a little damp…

How many bookings do you have, and what are the timimgs and noise limits ??

Barman - I am interested but the forecast is a little damp…

For the 7th June???

AAARGHHHH !!!

Sometimes I get ahead of myself

Hope you received the info I sent you. Hope you can make it, should be a good day.

Richard, do you know what the noise limit is at the circuit and whether they will be noise testing the cars before lapping?

Sorry for the delay, I’ve been away on holiday.

Noise limit is 110db, we certainly aren’t noise testing and the circuit haven’t mentioned anything to me about them doing it. So there probably won’t be any taking place.

Bloomin eck - that’s loud
