Baffled sumps

Dave - sounds plausible although in a closed system such as an engine, if there’s no oil in the sump at higher revs - where has it gone? The speed of the oil up into the engine vs the speed of it returning under gravity can only really be balanced by the absolute volume.

Maybe instead of or before baffling sumps we should just have larger capacity ones - therefore having more “reserve” for the surge moments.

I have both…larger and baffled…

And then catch it all in bloody catch cans …hahaha

I’m very , very , bored with this now

I’m baffled by it all…

Sorry to bring this back to life, but it’s aimed at seriouslylotus:

  1. what’s the difference between the original gpan and gpan2 (apart from 96); and
  2. is there an exiges.com (or seloc) discount?!

Cheers Will

We’d never have guessed!

CIN - what does that mean in this context? [/quote]

There is an optimal height the pickup should be placed at.

Edited to say that if the after market sumps are deeper, shimming the pickup tube could provide more protection.

Additional fore and aft baffling.
the gPan is on special offer as I have a couple left. the actual true diff is 25.00
Discount, I heard that pardon, who said that…

So how do I order a gPan can only see the gpan 2 on your site :frowning:

Its an option within the gPan2, look at the bottom of the page and you select either. the original gPan is 96.00 inc vat cheaper!!

I’ve ordered an original one, hopefully this now concludes the saga!

sagas never end on here they just take a little break!
just when you thought it was safe to log on…there it is again

make sure you order some flexible sealant and have a tool to get the old sucker off.
I used a window putty palate knife banged in flush. Once you’re in it then goes around easily
sector 111 stuff does come with a very good instruction sheet

I’m pretty inept when it comes to spannering, so it’s going to be fitted at the same time that the car is serviced by someone who (hopefully) knows what they are doing.

William
Where did you have in mind? JS Racing are only a short drive up the M40

Just dont skimp on the sealant…
Genuine Toyota stuff is the only one that’d seal my old Moroso…

It’s got to go to castle to have a door lock looked at under warranty (key doesn’t seem to fit the barrel) and they are going to do it at the same time together with a service. I have looked at where JS Racing is, but google maps reckons its 2 hours each way, which seems a bit much!

Cheers Will

JSR is near J2 M5

Toyota sealant is the real deal, but at 80 for a tube, which probably has enough sealant for several pans, I used the sector 111 recommended sealant, about 12. It’s on here somewhere on an old thread if anyone wants the name.
